Wonderful Immigration Lawyer! I searched for a lawyer who can provide both Criminal and Immigration law representation. I searched Google for Criminal and Immigration lawyer in Irvine and Newport Beach, I found Mr. Marcus. Upon calling him, I felt at peace as he answered all my questions with confidence, I immediately sensed his experience in both areas as he explained the process of my case. I hired him over the phone and he was able to expunge my criminal records within 6 weeks, afterward, he filed an application for my neutralization and within three weeks, I received the notice for fingerprint and soon after He went with me to the citizenship interview. I recommend this wonderful attorney to anyone who is need of immigration services special in these days of uncertainty. Thanks to Mr. Marcus I am now an American Citizen!

Joint motion to terminate was made by Mr. Lerner. The DHS could not establish removability or deportability as was ruled by the Immigration Judge. I had my Green Card and had a theft conviction and a solicitation for sale (crack) conviction. However, Immigration could not establish removability based on a controlled substance violation or 2 crimes of moral turpitude and my case was terminated and I'm now free with my Green Card back. Brian Lerner and his team fought and fought to get me the win in this matter. I will always be thankful as I can stay here with my family and my children.

I have an extensive experience of working with different immigration attorneys not only as an immigrant, but also as an immigration specialist. I worked with multiple attorneys, few different law firms both when I had no idea how US immigration law works and later when immigration became my passion and career. Genie is one of the attorneys that I would absolutely recommend to everyone. She is knowledgeable, experienced, responsive and really responsible for your case. She will not let you fail. She is always on the client's side and acts immediately. If you want to hire a trusted attorney, Genie is a great choice. Thank you, Joanna

Thomas Scully is a brilliant attorney. He is representing me in two cases and doing a fantastic job. He's thorough, personable and a gifted writer and communicator. I shouldn't be writing this review because others are going to hire him and he'll be too busy for me - but I am compelled. Judges respect him, opposing attorneys respect him and I've had one witness tell me that if she needs an attorney, she's going to hire Thomas because he's so bright.

I was searching on Google for an immigration attorney in the Los Angeles area. After reviewing and calling 25 attorneys ranging from Woodland Hills to Anaheim California, I called Andrew Park and I could tell from the questions I asked and his responses, that he was courteous and a professional. I had a good instinct about him and I thought it's someone I want to work with. My instinct was right as he proved to be extremely professional, courteous and most importantly a person with INTEGRITY which is rare now days. I am writing this review because I feel he is someone who deserves recognition for his ethical character and work ethic. If anyone has any questions, please contact me at pezion@hotmail.com and I can talk with you further.

Mr. Martz is not like other lawyers. He is above and beyond the nicest and most down to earth lawyer I've met. Most lawyers are slow to reply, charge you a ton, and are rude. Not Kellan. He helped me with a DUI case I had a few months ago and got me a plea deal that was very fair. I made a mistake and needed help, Kellan did a great job and was very clear in explaining how everything worked in court. His prices were very competitive and he let me pay in three installments so I didn't have to come up with that much all at once. Thanks Kellan.

Robert is an amazing person. He is one of the best in his profession. When I needed L1A visa for me & dependent visa for my family in 2013, Robert was recommended by a friend in Chicago. Since, I am from India, I wasn't familiar about procedures & most important was communication problem due to different accent. Apart from this, we had the time zone problem & just to make sure not to call me at odd hours in the night, Robert carefully scheduled my appointments with him for discussion about the paper work. Fortunately, my visa was approved in just 11 days without need for any queries & the credit goes to Robert & his team for the perfect documentation. Even after my visa approval, he kept me guiding as a friend whenever I needed help on certain legal / immigration matters. Today, for me, Robert is more than an attorney or a friend. I can say he cared for me like a brother. God bless you sir.

There may be a lot of lawyers out there but can you trust them all to always have your best interest? To always take the time to answer all of your questions (regardless of how basic they are)? To always promptly call back? To care about your case as much as you do? Geoffrey Bosmans has been my trusted lawyer for several incidents throughout the years and I trust him completely! I insisted that my sister call him when she needed representation in a Personal Injury case. Geoff fought valiantly to get her everything that was due and then negotiated hard to get bills down so that she could keep more of the money. I had a client refuse to pay my invoices and Geoffrey helped me fight to get them paid (including the additional expenses incurred from their non-payment). Most recently, he helped my and my new British husband go through the immigration process seamlessly and quickly. These were three different types of cases (PI, workplace and immigration) which were very stressful for me and my family. Yet, he helped alleviate all that by handling each case with the fierceness of a pit bull fighting for me and with a patient and caring "bedside manner." Plus, he is a really great person with solid ethics and integrity. I never hesitate to recommend Geoff to anyone as I know he will take excellent care of their legal needs and get the results they require.

Mr. Ali and his staff really care about the clients. It's nice to know that someone has your back when you're going through a tough and stressful time in your life. Mr. Ali and his staff are also great about making your family feel welcome and make them feel at ease. I was referred to Mr. Ali when I my husband was in the process of being deported. Mr. Ali not only worked on our immigration case but also our criminal matter. When I really thought there was nothing we could do, I was relieved when Mr. Ali informed me that he was able to keep my husband from being deported and also kept him from going to jail.

I was referred to Jessica at PathLaw in an emergency, and granted, I haven't been consciously curating my credentials so there was a lot to prepare for an O-1 petition. Having spoken to three different firms, big and small, I chose to work with PathLaw Group knowing their boutique setup and close connection with clients - it was such a right decision for a first-time O-1. Jessica was super invested, always available and very fast with documentation. We were able to compile a package quickly, respond to subsequent RFEs strongly which lead to a final approval. The petition process has its natural ups and downs, and it is imperative that one works with an attorney who can cater her attention and be ready to answer questions and address problems in time. Large corporate law firms caused me more anxiety with their delayed and templated responses than the petition itself, and being able to text your attorney and get a response in minutes is such a paradigm shift. I highly recommend working with Jessica and Ashkan!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good immigration lawyer?

Research is key to finding a good immigration lawyer. The immigration process can be overwhelming and complex, so a trustworthy advocate is critical. When you have identified several eligible candidates, verify their immigration law license to protect yourself and your finances. Once you have a set of licensed immigration lawyers in mind, choose one based on these considerations:

      • Mutual respect: You want an immigration lawyer who treats you and your family with kindness and consideration. You’ll do the same for them.
      • Availability: Before hiring, note if they have responded promptly to your emails and calls. You don’t want to hire someone you have to chase around.
      • Proven success: Read former client reviews and research their success rate with cases similar to yours.
      • Transparent rates: Ask directly about what their rates are, how they bill, and what they estimate your legal fees will be. Ask if they will sign a fee agreement, and get receipts for all fees paid.
      • Verify who will handle your case: Sometimes junior lawyers work on firm cases. This is okay, as long as you have discussed it and are comfortable with it. When junior lawyers or paralegals are working on your case, ask if the hourly rate is lower.
      • Be wary of anyone who promises you specific results: No case is certain, and the immigration lawyer should be honest about what you can expect.

How much does an immigration lawyer cost?

Immigration lawyers are experts in the nuances of the highly complex United States immigration system. They help clients of all backgrounds petition for immigration status and become U.S. citizens, and can represent clients who are facing deportation or detention. Nationally, the cost people pay for immigration lawyers averages $500-$1,010. The services you need will have a huge effect on your costs. For routines cases, such as applying for a travel visa, an immigration lawyer may be able to confidently quote you a set price, while more open-ended cases may be billed at an hourly rate of $200-$500, or more, depending on the reputation and experience of the firm and lawyer. Before hiring an immigration lawyer, ask what their plan for your case is and what expected costs may be. Many immigration lawyers work from retainers, and request a set amount of money upfront from which to work. For example, a lawyer who charges $300 per hour may estimate $4,000 for a standard family-based immigration case, the common process in which a U.S. citizen petitions for permanent residency for their spouse, fiancee or family members.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
