About
Hi -
My piano lessons are truly goal-changing (you can reach for more). I teach music as a language, giving the student specific exercises to place in the subconscious. These are serious lessons, but it's all about joy. I want you to succeed.
Once you can "speak" music, music is effortless and fun (See Kenny Werner).
Currently, I'm only teaching on Zoom. All my regular students have free access to my online JazzSkills for Piano course. My lessons are 45 minutes. I teach in an organized Step-by-Step approach. The goal is to create a spontaneous, creative and meaningful music language in the subconscious. It Works!
Special: First lesson is $50 (reg $70). Let's talk. I teach both classical and jazz. I have a Masters Degree in classical piano and I am an active jazz performer and author of books and online courses.
My main interest is teaching pianists to improvise music. That is the most fun and life-changing. I'm only interested in teaching students who are serious about achieving their musical goals. I am happy to discuss your music goals and my teaching methods.

P.S. I am very passionate about performing and teaching piano. Music is my life. I believe that playing music gives us much joy and balance in our life. I sincerely want music to change your life.

Working with Martan is great! He completely loves what he does, and that passion flows through his lessons. The workload is hefty, but it has to be if you want to learn to play piano - there is so much to know. Martan knows it, and he very much wants his students to know it. I wish I had more personal time to improve my skills as quickly as his lessons deserve it, but I work with what I have and have been improving steadily.

Martan is a great teacher. He is knows the theory and has the practical skills to teach piano. He also adjusts the class to fit my interests (learning how to compose and improvise) and he is constantly trying to make learning fun. Martan is super friendly and flexible, and I really appreciate that he got a remote setup super quick just after the pandemic started so that we can still have our classes.
