- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I underwent five years of training as a public accountant and auditor in South Africa and worked as an auditor and accountant for an additional three years. I have worked in the United States for 13 years as an internal audit and controls (Sarbanes-Oxley) consultant and manager.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I work in accounting, internal audit, and compliance because I am passionate about controls over financial reporting and accountability. I have a duty of care to my clients and to the broader investing public. I value and respect my clients without whom I would not have a livelihood.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Look for a provider that has the requisite technical skills and experience to do the job. The provider you hire needs to have a passion for the subject matter at hand and be flexible and able to adapt to your needs.
