I feel a little guilty doing a review because it's so bad. I also told Katie I wouldn't do one. However, I think it's only just to warn others about the quality of work you will get with her, but especially the new friend she hired. I don't think it's right for me to not tell you guys about the problems I encountered.
I had Katie clean my house 3 times. The first time she cleaned it, she did do a really great job! I did hear her drop my glass candle lid in the bathroom and it sounded like it broke. I went in later to check it out. Yes, the lid was damaged with a noticeable crack. I wish she told me. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt that she just forgot to. However, in the past I've had ladies that will tell me immediately. Honesty is really needed with folks who work inside people's homes. Trust is everything when they're able to be in such close proximity to things of value.
The second time she cleaned, she had hired her friend. Unfortunately, this person is a huge part of the reason why I had no choice but to give Katie only 2 stars and fire her. This lady doesn't move anything on your tables, just dusting around the lamps, a couple of books or picture frames. She doesn't believe that sliding glass doors or blinds are a normal thing done in a standard cleaning. Please note, before I hired Katie, she agreed to do them! I also paid Katie $40 extra a month! I used to believe that a good tip would motivate people to do a good job for you. This new lady friend she hired convinced her to not clean the blinds, and made her believe that by cleaning my sliding glass door it was extra. I've never had a cleaning lady not dust the blinds or clean the sliding glass door, and the track. My dining room table was a hot mess. I felt awkward watching get not remove the runner or the placemats. She just dusted and polished around them! I ended up doing the job properly when she left the room. The chairs weren't moved away from the dining room table when the floor was "washed." I used quote marks because they don't vacuum the tile before they wash it. So you'll get to see those long looking dust clumps throughout your tile floors. She doesn't move little dog dishes, nor barstools to wash the floor under them either. The cobwebs under my dining table hanging low to the floor were completely missed.... easily caught had you been on the ground doing a hand wipe to reach the tile under the middle of the table. Katie told me that this would be a deep clean to get those... what?? So you see them, but dare not wipe them away because your $40 tip isn't enough?? I have a photo showing how filthy the floor was afterwards and those cobwebs of which I speak. All of the granite in my kitchen was missed too the second time they were here. Note that your fans can't get cleaned unless you have a tall ladder, a step ladder will not work. The long duster should have at least been used. If you have a bed frame and pillars on it, those will not get dusted. I had to do those myself after they left...I was never told she wouldn't dust the wood on my bed. The price should have reflected how minimal the standard cleaning should have been. Or at least volunteer to do something a little extra? She also doesn't use any running water when she cleans the bathroom showers, sinks or bathtubs. There were smears on the outside and inside of my glass shower. I feel better knowing that the dirt and chemicals get washed down the drain. I had to take a towel and wipe down the smears on the outside of the glass and used water myself on the inside. So, I was able to raise concerns on some things that were missed such as only half of my sliding glass door getting cleaned because her friend didn't open the blinds to do the other half! Right?? So lazy. She did fix it. I also showed her how dusty the back of my table chairs were. I guess dusting chairs a bit is only for a deep clean. I've NEVER had this problem in the past!
Unfortunately, you don't notice everything not cleaned properly, or even missed while they're here. I reached out to her the 2nd and 3rd time with the lack of detail to work and missed things. I decided to send photos the 3rd time because I just felt so used for a quick buck. My house has been cleaned for the past several years. It takes 2 hours with 3 ladies, the two of them were only here for 1hr and 45 minutes. I KNEW something was missed! A lot must have been missed!
Anyways, after I reached out to her, she texted me back that she stopped doing the blinds because her friend told her she shouldn't be doing that work. How do you stop cleaning them when you agreed to do them before I hired you? She didn't offer to come back and re-wash my floor, nor clean the granite, or clean the blinds. I had to fire her. She really does have the potential to be a great worker. She's very sweet in personality, but her friend will destroy her new business. I told her this. She didn't care to listen. If you hire her, make sure you check all her work and get the agreement of the type of work you want in writing. She blamed English being a 2nd language to her, thus is having a communication issue. No, it's easy to show someone what you need by pointing them out. And the photos I sent her? She never offered to come back and fix it.
I'm not a vindictive and spiteful person. It's taken me a month to decide on whether or not I should write this. It's not my intention to destroy and hurt her business by giving this review. However, I do want people to be successful... she never will be unless she gets some new help, and pays attention to detail, and essentially learns how to clean properly.
