I bring youth AND wisdom to my field! At 30 years old I have over 15 years of tutoring experience in mathematics. I have always loved math, and also always loved helping others understand it better. I have pursued my passion for education and taught high school the past three years. Unlike some tutors I am there to TEACH the student... to help them learn how to do it without needing me to do it for them. I don't want them to be dependent on me, but rather want them to build their skills and confidence to do it on their own and feel accomplished and proud. I teach by breaking complex concepts down and relating it back to something simple that they know to be true... then help bridge the concepts together (connecting previous knowledge with the new stuff). :) I love the "light bulb moments" that students get when they finally reach true understanding. Sometimes it takes a lot of work (by both the student and the tutor), but that thrill of reaching true understanding makes the struggle totally worth it. The best things in life aren't always easy though, right?

Rebecca is an excellent tutor. She connects well and easily with the students. She is great at quickly discovering what the student is having trouble with and explaining the concept in a way the student will understand. At first my son didn't want a tutor but after one session with Rebecca he changed his mind. He now asks to work with her before each quiz or test. We saw immediate results working with Rebecca, D's turned into A's.

I was struggling with Algebra I. What I like about Rebecca is her patience to let you work it out the solution, gently guiding you through each step. She is not in a hurry to give you the answer. I learn better this way. It makes the groves (neuron pathways) in my brain so I retained the material. That is not easy for a 70 year old. Now that being said she is adaptable to any learning style. She is upbeat, enthusiastic and knows she can help you. Draw back is cost.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
A typical 55 minute in-home tutoring session is $50-55, depending on whether the tutor has their bachelor's degree or associate's degree.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to talk with the parent(s) and/or student(s) to hear what they're looking for in a tutor; how we can best serve their needs. Then, we compare schedules to see when they are available to have a tutor come to their house for in-home tutoring and set them up with a tutor that fits all their needs. Our first Meet Me Session is $20 off as some of the session will be spent getting acquainted. I then send the client a PayPal invoice via e-mail to collect payment after the session is complete.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Families can view our tutor bios on our website for more specific background information about each of our tutors. Rebecca, the owner, has experience tutoring as well as in the classroom and most of the other tutors are training to become teachers in the next few years.
