Introduction: 👩🏫Hello everyone! My students call me Teacher Lian (liàn laoshi). I have advanced proficiency in both Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese. With a deep love and extensive knowledge of Chinese culture, I'm passionate about sharing it with others.
🇨🇳Born and raised in China, I began my teaching career after earning my degree and teacher certification there. Over the years, I've had the privilege of teaching students of all ages and levels.
📖Moving to the United States presented an exciting opportunity to learn how to teach Chinese to non-native speakers. I completed a rigorous one-year Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSOL) program at Columbia University's Teachers College in 2021, earning my TCSOL certificate.
📚A firm believer in lifelong learning, I continuously strive to improve my teaching methods. I create a fun and engaging learning environment, customizing lesson plans to each student's needs and interests. After about six months of Cynthis's lessons, our child began to actively share with us the Chinese characters and culture she learned in Cynthis's class. We were very surprised by this.
