Hired on Thumbtack
Melissa was amazing and very easy to work with. She is very responsive and made me feel comfortable, prioritizing storage solutions and using what I already own to use in creative ways. I’ve booked her twice in the last month from moving and helping downsize, sort, and organize the new space. Thank you Melissa there is a weight lifted off my shoulders!!

Melissa is amazing. We spoke on the phone and she immediately understood what I needed, whether by me telling her, or her sensing it. She just knew! She then came to the house to see the garage, which is what I needed to organize after a move, prompted partly by the passing away of my partner. She truly honors the name she’s given the company. She is compassionate, she actively listens and she is quick to understand the needs (even if the customer is not fully aware of them!). I am so happy with the work she did, and I feel like a huge weight was lifted by just having everything organized and be able to park my car without thinking I’m going to hit something with it! Thank you, Melissa!!

I hired Melissa to organize a large storage closet for me. She was friendly and made me feel like I was in good hands. She got the work done in less time than originally estimated and kept me involved just as much as I wanted. I will definitely hire her again for other areas of my home!

After having our kitchen cabinets, drawers, and shelves repainted, everything had been removed and put back in a very haphazard way. It felt overwhelming, so I searched Thumbtack for a professional organizer and was fortunate to find Melissa at Compassionate Organizer.
Melissa responded promptly and was available the very next day. She listened carefully to how we use our kitchen and created a logical, easy-to-maintain system—placing sponges by the sink, pots and pans near the stove, and organizing everything where it made the most sense. She even labeled the cabinets with sticky notes so we could quickly find items and develop new habits.
Melissa is efficient, patient, thoughtful, and completely nonjudgmental. She transformed what felt like chaos into a kitchen that is both functional and a pleasure to use. I would hire her again without hesitation and recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate professional organizer.

Melissa was amazing!
after working with Melissa, for the first time in my life, I had more space than items in my kitchen. And we did that without getting rid of a lot.
She created organization systems that made perfect sense, but I never would’ve thought of myself. Before our work I was constantly looking for things - and she organized my drawers and cabinets in a way that now I know which drawer or which cabinet things are likely in.
She also completely transformed my little desk area in my dining room room. I felt like I never had enough space there and kept the office items in several places because I did not have room with my dining room items in the cabinet nearest by. It was almost magical how much space opened up for easy access to everything I need to work in that small space while still keeping my dining room items there.
Most of all, Melissa is incredibly easy and kind to work with. There is a fear,, and pride factor, allowing someone into your mess. But she brings a positive outlook and zero judgment. She listened, and helped you make thoughtful decisions instead of telling me what to do. She understands that organizing is personal and different for each one of us
I’m already looking forward to having her back to attack different areas of the house!
I highly recommend her. If you are even wondering how you would begin a project to get your house in a better place, reach out to Melissa – don’t hesitate because you don’t know where to begin, she will guide you :)

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For jobs over four hours, the price is $80 per hour.
For jobs requiring one to four hours, the price is $90 per hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I hear from you, we'll set up a time to talk on the phone (about 15 minutes) to get to know your needs and wants.
For most jobs, I'd like to come to your home for a 30 minute visit (free of charge) to start making a plan.
Within a day, I'll send you an email outlining a proposed plan with some options. Keeping your budget in mind, I can offer an option that reduces my time if you'd like to save money by getting some of the work done yourself.
Once I hear back from you, we'll schedule the work. You can decide if you'd like the work done all at once or in stages. You can also choose how involved you want to be.
After the project is complete, I'll reach out on an agreed upon schedule to make any adjustments or just to offer gentle accountability.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've worked for over 25 years as a classroom teacher. I've found that one of the most valuable things I can teach children is how to be organized. I've learned that it's a teachable skill and everyone comes to it with a different perspective. This is where the 'Compassionate" part comes into play. We all have strong feelings about our belongings and our personal spaces.
