Bad: Rich overcharged me for parts (according to my calculations - more than double the cost - in the amount of $224). He charged me $561 for his second visit - which he verbally said was $140 for labor and the rest for parts. That comes out to $421 for parts - for a 120k maintenance kit for a Ricoh 2510 along with a drum and a drum cleaning blade. After I paid him, he came back to fix an issue that arose from the maintenance work (I do not believe this issue was his fault). I told him that I thought that he may have overcharged me for parts. He pointed out that he had charged me $140 for two hours of labor and that I had missed 2 parts in my calculations - making it seem that he did not overcharge me. I trusted him at the time and thought maybe I was wrong - and said I was good. Then after he left I went online and found that those two parts only cost $36.90. I then emailed him and texted me to ask him for an invoice for the parts - and he would not communicate with me nor he did he provide me with that invoice. He would not admit that he had overcharged me and he made no effort to make things right. I also asked for a written bill for the amount I paid during his visit and he did not respond to me or send it to me as well. He did however cash my checks. I went to Precision Roller (online copier parts company) and used the label on the box that he left with the parts – G9500 kit) and the additional individual parts (a drum B039-9510 and a drum cleaning blade AD04-1114) and I came up with a retail cost from Precision Roller of $196.85. So I overpaid by $224.00 from what I could have paid for the parts (retail cost). Also, I should say both that before this second visit, he charged me $80 to come out and assess what was needed (first visit), but also after the second visit maintenance when he needed to come out to replace the toner - because he took so long to do it (and I was not able to use my copier for that time) - he only charged me for the toner and not his time on that third visit - which I appreciated - but this was not related to the earlier overcharge. Good: My copier does work now. I have no reason to believe that he does not know what he is doing. On Rich's Thumbtack site he says "Most cases can be fixed within one hour on site. We charge $70.00 plus parts." I did find Rich by looking at info from Thumbtack and liked the review I saw and he was close by. I have never done a negative review before - this is my first. Always I have been able to work things out in the past. No one is perfect - but when a person does not make things right others should be aware of it.
Printerrepair's reply
I would like to point out a couple of things. I gave two bids for work and he approved them. I stayed with the bid he approved, I tried to tell him the difference in OEM parts and aftermarket. When confronted I offered free labor and money back and said I would walk away with nothing , in fact he gave me another 80 for developer change I did that day with free labor, trying to keep customer happy. This falls under you can't please everyone. He doesn't include shipping tax travel and god for bid markup. . I do not use cheap parts. The second thing is he is doing this after the fact, after approving it and he is a lawyer all of this should have and was done before hand now he wants whole sale , no tax, no shipping and no markup and cheap aftermarket parts After the fact.. . Wow

Called Rich and he was able to get to the patient (copier) very quickly. Surgery went well and the patient came thru with flying colors but more maintenence work must be performed to be a peak efficiency. Great Service, Great Tech, would definitely suggest for anyone to use and I have a service tech for all future needs. Thanks Rich

.I called Rich because of his excellent reviews on Thumbtack, and being local was a plus. He exceeded my expectations. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and informative. He arrived at my home exactly when he said he would and identified the issue with my printer in a short amount of time. The cost was very fair. I will absolutely recommend him to my family and friends, when they need help. I give him five stars. Thank you so much Rich – you are awesome
