FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing is similar to a jewelry store. I'm very transparent about my prices when meeting with clients. I do keep very competative pricing on diamonds. While many stores mark diamonds up to 50% over suggested retail, I price 10%-15% over cost (excluding very rare or hard to source goods). In this way I can compete with certain massive internet jewelry companies.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I tend to meet the customer at a place of their convenience. We go over the general idea of what they want. If it's a custom design I go through questions to get a basic idea of what they want. The design process is the most important aspect of creating a custom piece, so I don't rush it. From there I will submit various hand rendered designs until the client is satisfied. The approved preliminary design then goes to CAD/CAM where the design is created into a 3-D model and digitally rendered. The design may be tweeked in this stage to nail down small details. Once the client gives final approval the piece goes into production.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm a G.I.A. graduate in both the Graduate Jeweler and Jewelry Design courses. I apprenticed at a very high end store in San Diego and have been a jeweler for award winning contemporary jewelry designers.
