Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. There is no substitute for private lessons from an experienced coach--ESPECIALLY in such a nuanced position as pitcher.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I do what I do because of my love for the game. I get excited when I am a part of a player's progression from being an average player to a GREAT one.
I do my best to keep my lessons affordable. I am the oldest of 4 kids, and with that many mouths to feed, my parents would not have been able to afford what many instructors charge today. Without affordable pitching & hitting lessons from local coaches, I would not have progressed from city league into travel ball, which helped me get a scholarship, which helped to pay for an education at a private university that I would not otherwise have been able to afford. It's amazing what an impact just one coach can have on a kid's life! :)
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I love softball, so that's the highlight of this job... However, I also love the flexibility, because I have an toddler and a preschooler, so it allows me to be with them as much as possible.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. Yes--I attend coaching clinics featuring college and international softball coaches whenever I have the opportunity!
