Introduction: MOBILE SERVICES FOR MOST OF SAN DIEGO COUNTY. ACCESS TO A TRAINING SPACE IN EL CAJON. Hi, my name is Joshua Williams, owner of Logos MMA. I am Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, under Alfredo Barum. I started training at a professional level in 2002 in BJJ and MMA and have a 5-2 record in Pro MMA. I also have strong wrestling and kickboxing skills to pass on to students, having been a CIF runner up in high school wrestling, training in Tang Su Do from an early age, and continuing with MMA-tailored Mauy Thai, Boxing, Wrestling, Judo, etc. I can teach BJJ/grappling with the gi or without the gi. I am a very patient teacher. I have taught adults, teens, and kids. I have worked in special education schools, and run after school programs. So, if you are looking for private instruction for your kids, I am well qualified for that also. I have been certified as a personal trainer through Ace and have studied kinesilogy/exercise science, so I have a good level of knowledge of the human body. I have a 10'x10' portable mat (4 of them actually) , Thai pads and boxing mitts for striking, and extra boxing gloves. I can do in-home private lessons for individuals or small groups. Sessions are at least one hour. If your goal is self-defense, then the best way to achieve it is to understand the most realistic forms of attack and defense, so BJJ/MMA training is a must! If your goal is cardio-vascular fitness, then BJJ/MMA training is the most effortless, natural, and enjoyable way! I teach in very systematic way, and progress everything at the pace of the individual student. So you will always feel supported with the right level of challenge to keep you engaged and progressing. Thanks for reading. Joshua

Joshua is a wonderful instructor who has catered his jiu jitsu and broader MMA lessons specifically to my goals. He is always on time and teaches in a manner that has allowed an inexperienced student like myself to progress well. He’s a good person and a patient instructor. I highly recommend him to people of all ages and skill levels.

I've been working with Joshua for over six months now. He's been awesome. I'm someone who came in with basically no knowledge of MMA and I'm seeing myself improve. He takes the time to explain what he's doing and adjusts to my skill level, then can keep getting more intense/difficult as needed as I'm able to handle it. Great experience so far.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My rate for a one-hour session is $110 (for one person). If you come to my location in 92020 then I offer also 30 minute sessions for $65. I travel the first 10 miles for free from 92019, and then charge $1 per mile one way after. I offer bulk discounts for packs, longer sessions, or back-to-back sessions at the same place. I DO NOT COUNT SET-UP AND BREAKDOWN OF MATS AGAINST THE SESSION TIME. PRIVATE GROUP TRAINING: Small private groups are the best value. My per-hour rate is higher overall for training 2 people or more at a time, but the cost is still less per person. Please provide the details of your group for a custom quote.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I will ask your experience and fitness level, and if you have an limitations, or need specific accommodations. I will ask your goals, make suggestions, and tailor a program to you accordingly. If you are a beginner, we will start with an overview and some basic concepts, so you will have a framework to hold and orient information- Like a road map, so you can see where we are headed, and eventually start to see the big picture. Initially, you will learn fundamental techniques that are the most effective and often used at all levels. As we progress, we can specialize more according to your individual aptitude, attributes, and preferences. My goal is for you to eventually be a martial artist. My job is to guide you on that journey. Eventually, part of that will be for me to allow for your own creativity, whenever it aligns with the principles that drive effective martial arts.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, under Alfredo Barum, in the Carlos Gracie lineage. 5-2 record in Pro MMA (fights were Total Combat and Gladiator Challenge. My Sherdog profile can be found searching "Joshua Matthew Williams" , but does not list my 2014 win in Gladiator Challenge). Training in BJJ, MMA, Muay Thai, boxing since 2002. Purple belt in Tang Su Do (Korean Karate) at age 16 when I stopped to focus on wrestling. Second place in 1999 CIF high school wrestling (160 lbs). ACE personal training certification in 2013 or so, but have not renewed since I am really just focused on martial arts. Some kinesiology/sports medicine classes at San Diego City College.
