Mark is the ultimate professional. On time, thorough, great craftsmanship. He tiled our kitchen, entryway and laundry room and it looks beautiful. I highly recommend him and I will be using him again in the future.

I had to remodel my rental property by taking out the carpet and replacing it with tile. I got a few bids and Mark was by far the easiest, the most knowledgable and gave us the best quote. He was great to communicate with since he was always responsive and promptly followed through.
I was pretty clueless about tile so I had a lot of questions--what type is best? Where should I get it? what size? how much? Mark answered them all, giving us lots of options and even suggesting the best tile stores to shop at for good prices. He was very confidant in what he knew and I could tell he had been doing this for a long time and trusted his knowledge.
Mark started during a time that was convenient for the both of us and it was so easy scheduling with him. I was surprised at how fast and wonderfully he did the job since i've dealt with contractors before and it's never been this easy. I live in SF but the rental property is in Sacramento and he helped out by picking up my huge tile order from the store. If he didn't help out with this, I would have had to take a day off and do it myself. Throughout the process, he would take pictures and text me what it was looking like from beginning to end. The most amazing thing that happened is that I overlooked one area that wasn't included in our original plans which is the area around the fireplace. After he was done, he informed me that the fireplace had lost it's luster since it had different tile than the floors. He sent me a picture and we agreed that he would help out with replacing the tile as well. I was so impressed at how much he cares about his work and wants to create a good job.
Overall he is the best contractors i've worked with and my property manager has agreed to have him help on other rental property projects. I've also referred him to other friends looking to replace their flooring. He is not only great at his work but such a pleasant man to work with. He is fair, precise, neat, and professional. All that you would need!

Highly reccommend Mark, very professional, always on time, clean, efficient and kept us updated on the status of our project daily. Did a meticulous job on our flooring and decorative inset and, did the job CORRECTLY without cutting any corners when problems arose with our subfloor. He was respecful of our home and was very clean in the space where the work was being done, he takes pride in his work, very trustworthy, excellent prices,-hire him if you want the "experienced professional".

I cannot say enough about the service Mark performed for me.
First, his communication in advance of the job is excellent. He experienced an issue with the preceding job and needed to delay mine by a day and called far in advance to discuss with me.
Regarding his work. Mark tends to be a perfectionist willing to do the job right and not worry about the time. A couple of times he did not like how something was going and would stop and consider other options before restarting his work.
He is very professional: careful so as to not make too much of a mess and is cautious to avoid causing damage. He recommended a non-standard grout (Power Grout) even though it is a bit harder to work with because it offered significant benefits (i.e. non-staining, never needs sealing)
Both his estimate of time and cost were perfect-in fact, the actual cost was slightly below the estimate.
I have additional tile work I want done next year and will be hiring Mark again.
I completely recommend Mark Hester!!!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
There's no wrong questions, I'm always looking to answer any questions or concerns the client has during any stage of the project. If I don't have the answer right away I will always make it a priority to find the right one.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I do attend seminars and certification classes of flooring manufactures.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was always helping my dad and uncle growing up. It wasn't always fun but valuable in my decision to pursue a life in the trade.
