Jim is a great Attorney! I hired Jim for a personal injury in an accident. He was very punctual with all meeting's and never failed to answer any of my questions. After the accident I felt a bit helpless, but with Jim everything was put to ease as I did not have to worry because he took care of it all! If you've been in an accident and are left with nothing but bills and problems give Jim a call he is an outstanding attorney and will make sure everything gets taken care of!

Meeting Mr. Mike Cherrington was a blessing. He helped me reconcile years of complicated tax debts. At that time, he was doing volunteer work to help people for free with their most complex tax issues and I was one of the fortunate people to get help from him. After my complicated separation from my husband, I owed the State of California and the IRS money for back taxes and ended up with wage garnishments. I had trouble producing the necessary documentations to reconcile. Mr. Cherrington was able to obtain them as soon as I signed the power of attorney to access my records from the IRS. It only took about a week to go through years of taxes. It didn't take long for the State & IRS to stop the garnishment while my case was being reviewed. I was very happy with the outcome of my amended taxes because not only did I find out I didn't owe neither the State nor IRS, I also ended up expecting refunds for the installment payments I made on my back taxes. Although the response of the review by State and IRS was a long wait, the garnishments have stopped during this process. Eventually, my State tax amendments had been approved and I have received all the refunds expected. The IRS is taking longer and I am still pending response or approval. Mr. Mike Cherrington is very reliable. I consult him for any correspondence or communications received from the IRS and he immediately follows up through it and keeps me posted without delays. He is very knowledgeable at what he does even with the most complex tax issues. Nowadays, it's difficult to find someone who you can trust, who has a kind heart and with genuine intentions to really help. I strongly recommend Mr. Mike Cherrington. He is efficient and provides excellent service!

I was impressed that they made a custom tailored plan for my case. The lawyers at Nadrich & Cohen definitely don't believe in one size fits all which is refreshing. This place is not a case mill and you will not be "just a number." They did everything that they promised they'd do for me and my case.

I am extremely shocked at the comment that Sean has not gotten back to the person leaving one of the comments. Sean called me the evening I called his office and explained my situation, scheduled a phone interview for the next day, and Sean called me that evening after a full day in court. He just wanted to make sure I was safe and did not need his help with anything that night. The team there have gotten back to me quickly and have been beyond concerned and helpful with everything during the horrible experience that continues. We are not finished yet, however, they have gone above and beyond so far for me! I would definitely say they genuinely care and surprisingly enough, I do not feel it has not just been about the money for this team. I will leave another comment when we are done with this process but so far, the team has definitely had my back! I work in litigation support, I know 100's of attorneys and I hired Sean, Nick, and the team there because I felt they really cared and had compassion for my situation and were very aggressive which was what i desperately needed! I visited quite a few of attorneys personally before hiring this team and so far feel I have made a excellent choice!

Just started the process but so far so good. We had scheduled an appt for a consultation at 12:45. He called me exactly at 12:45, he started the process right away and seems very organize and on top of things, which is what I was looking for. I tried to schedule other appointments with other lawyers and they called me back like 6 hours after I tried. I’m very sure that’s hes gonna do whatever it takes.

After 20 years of marriage I found myself in need of a experienced Family Law Attorney. I came across Gary Silber's name and gave him a call. Not only is Mr. Silber a seasoned Attorney with many years of professional experience he also possesses compassion, caring and has made me feel so comfortable using expertise. He not only won my case but I was surprised at how much more I was entitled too. I highly recommend Mr. Silber to anyone in need of an experienced Family Law Attorney that will only have your best interest at heart.

"Recently, my son was fortunate to have Attorney Chris Cosca represent him in a criminal case. It was a very frightening situation for our entire family and Chris was quite understanding and compassionate in dealing with our son and the family. He was especially good about keeping us updated on a timely basis and always returned phone calls and emails promptly. But MORE importantly, he worked diligently to acquire the best possible result for my son. I believe that his years of experience working as a district attorney, combined with his current practice as a defense attorney make him uniquely qualified to achieve success for his client."

I needed an attorney for a DUI. Michael charged me a reasonable rate and provided more than legal representation. He was genuinely concerned with my well being and offered valuable advice on my life situation. The court results were better than expected and his honest care that I got help was sincerely moving. I owe Michael much more than thanks for a job well done in the courtroom but gratitude for helping me improve my life.

It can be intimidating when searching for an attorney when you are not even sure if you have a case. I had never sought legal advise and needed to know if my situation warranted an attorney. I plugged my information in Thumbtack to seek advisement from an attorney. I received about 10 responses and intended on replying to each in the order received. Jonathan Ellison, Attorney at Law was my last response and by far the best. His reply was direct and to the point with a list of items necessary to determine what my situation warranted. This was the only reply I had received that actually was of any value. I replied immediately with a detailed description of my incident. He assisted me in receiving compensation for my incident and was a pleasure to work with. I would recommend him to anyone in need of legal assistance! Thanks Jon!

I have used Alina as a notary for many in-home client signings. She is very diligent, professional, and responsive. She is also a very fun and pleasant person to be around. I go to Alina whenever I need a notary, either for myself or my clients. As an attorney, I've seen many notaries who are not up to date with current notary laws or they lack essential attention to detail. Not all notaries are equal and you don't want to be caught in a situation where something wasn't probably notarized. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Alina for all notary services!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good real estate lawyer?

If buying or selling property feels overwhelming and the thought of finding a good real estate lawyer seems daunting, you’re in luck. There are some simple steps to follow for finding a trustworthy, affordable real estate lawyer to help with your property and legal needs.

  • Determine what kind of real estate lawyer you need. Many states require a real estate attorney to handle sale closing documents. For more complex matters such as a real estate deal gone awry or foreclosure, you’ll want to find an attorney who has successfully handled cases like yours.
  • Look for online reviews of real estate lawyers in your area. Verify that they have proven experience closing or winning cases like yours and that they are in good standing with the state bar association.
  • Choose two or three lawyers to interview. Many offer a free consultation to learn about your case and provide information about rates. For standard real estate closing services, in-depth interviewing might not be necessary.
  • Ask about their rates and whether they charge by the hour or provide services for a flat fee. Ask whether a retainer is required, and what the total bill should be for a case like yours.
  • Ask for a write-up of the services that will be covered by the projected costs.
  • Make sure you like the real estate agent and they treat you with respect. Confirm whether they or another person will be working on your case and make sure you’re comfortable with all members of their team.
  • Pay the retainer and hire your lawyer.

What does a real estate lawyer do?

A real estate lawyer represents their client’s best interest in all matters related to the sale, purchase and ownership of real estate. They are experts in real estate law. In states that require a real estate lawyer to close home sales, the lawyer must review and finalize all documents before the deal can be legally completed. Real estate lawyers also help clients legally protect their rights when entering, exiting or renegotiating a real estate deal. You can hire a real estate lawyer as an individual or as a business. A real estate lawyer can help with negotiation, addressing mortgage fraud, managing foreclosures and bankruptcy, transfers of titles and deeds, property ownership disputes, zoning issues, creating a co-ownership contract for joint purchase of a property, and much more. Real estate lawyers can also protect you from issues that result when a known problem was not properly disclosed by the previous owner. Overall, real estate lawyers are an added cost when it comes to buying and selling property, but they also ensure your best interests are met, and that you and the people you are doing business with comply with the law.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

What is a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer fights on your behalf if you’ve been injured physically, psychologically, economically or in reputation. This injury may be the result of neglect or malicious intent of another person, or it could be at the hands of a business, government or other entity. Personal injury lawyers specialize in tort law, which is the law of civil wrongs like car accidents, company wrongdoing, unlawful imprisonment and more.

To become qualified to be a personal injury lawyer in the United States, a person must earn a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from a law school. Most states then require the person to pass the bar exam to become licensed to practice law. Unlike many attorneys who require a retainer, personal injury lawyers often work on contingency fees. This means that in lieu of payment upfront, they receive an agreed-upon percentage of the settlement in case of a win.

What should you look for in a personal injury lawyer?

A personal injury lawyer will advocate for your legal rights if you’ve been hurt in an accident at work or in daily life, have suffered from medical malpractice, or are struggling to have your insurance carrier cover your needs. It may be helpful to talk with two or three lawyers before selecting one. When looking for a personal injury lawyer, research their reviews and make sure former clients have had good experiences with them. Next, make sure the personal injury lawyer has experience and proven success winning cases similar to yours. Confirm that the lawyer is licensed to provide services in your state. When you find a qualified personal injury lawyer with whom you want to work, freely discuss payment and fees before any work begins. Most lawyers offer a free consultation to learn what your case is about and explain their rates. Personal injury attorneys typically receive a percentage of your settlement (called a contingency fee), so they are paid after the trial or case is complete. Keep in mind that some attorneys have fees that you must pay even if you don’t win your trial. It’s important to understand these details before work begins so you don’t have any unhappy surprises later. Lastly, it’s wise to choose a personal injury lawyer that you have confidence in and with whom you can communicate openly and honestly.
