FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually like to offer a sliding scale hourly rate that gives the customer an option to fit their budget. I do ask for travel time from my shop to the job if it's more than 10 miles. For large painting projects, I have an online calculator that I use that I enter square footage measurements of the project areas and i share a low and high estimate with the client for them to choose within their budget.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I really like talking on the phone with the client and look at photos that they provide to better understand the scope of work before committing to a job. I try to lay out expectations surrounding the job so we are all on the same page.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was originally taught basic carpentry from my father, i learned house painting on the job as well as when I worked as the finish sprayer in the paint booth of an art production facility. I apprenticed a farmer f or a period of time, and assisted an electrician on another big project.
