We asked Charles to help with the interior design of our home after seeing the kitchen/dining area of close friends who hired him as their designer. Charles listened to what we had in mind and used his artistic eye to elevate our concept to a new level. The quality of his work showed that he had years of experience and knew how to manage a project from conception to completion. We highly recommend Charles!

My wife and I used Charles to help design an 80-percent remodel on our 5,000 sf home. This included a new kitchen, master bathroom, several bedrooms, family room, front room, entry foyer, library and TV Den. We had previously used Charles' services on an urban high-rise condominium. Having Charles as the designer, especially working with my wife, made all of the difference in the world. His ideas are up to date, he follows through promptly, he was honest (even took a financial hit for another contractor doing an electrical installation correctly). Charles is enjoyable to work with and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. We have recommended Charles to others and they have all been pleased with his work. We will hire him again for design work when our next project comes around. We cannot give him a stronger recommendation.

Working with Charles on my residential home project (2600 sqft) has been a real pleasure. After a recent move and the inheritance of a lot more space, I felt I needed someone who could partner in a journey of designing for me and my family from a blank canvas. Charles quickly saw the potential in the home and its architecture and made excellent style, color, texture, and thematic choices. His vision was spot on, and after the first room was completed, I felt comfortable enough to let Charles run free reign on selection of materials and furnishings, and HE DEFINITELY DELIVERED!! the couches in all rooms are both high quality, fashionable and comfortable- something I thought would never happen. I feel like I've now got custom furniture in my home, but acquired at affordable pricing and pieces that I have not seen or sourced from anywhere else. Charles has a real knack for pulling off the blending of styles as I'm more of a mid-century modern kinda guy and my wife is way more contemporary. Charles is now my go-to oracle for living solutions, and I know i'll be fully enjoying my home for years and years to come.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    I bill out at $150 per design hour.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    Typical process with new customers is to have a brief conversation on the phone to assess budget (if there is one), scope or to-do list and to just get an explanation of the project from the client's perspective. I can also answer questions as to how I work during the project, client expextations, billing, etc. The next step is to have an in-home visit to meet in person, to see the space and to determine if I am the right person for the project.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I have been working in the interior design field for 15 years. I have experience in designing kitchens, bathrooms, full-home remodels...even simple decorating projects. I owned a design showroom in San Diego's Little Italy area, called Mixture, so I also know my way around home furnishings, fixtures, lighting, etc.
