Introduction: I created Sew Contagious to get kids excited about sewing! We host in home sewing parties wherein we bring all of the materials,fabrics and sewing machines to the customer's home. We also offer sewing classes at the Tarzana Cultural Center for kids age 8 and up! I enjoy seeing kids transform through sewing. Often at parties they make it clear that they have never sewn before and they are pretty sure they can't do it. I love the sense of pride and accomplishment on their faces when they actually sew a design themselves! I also love the creative aspect of sewing and its homage to days gone by.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We offer private sewing classes for kids in the convenience of your home. The cost is $75.00 for 2 hours, groups of two or more kids the cost $60.00 per child. We bring the sewing machines, fabric and all materials needed! All inclusive Sewing Parties start at $395.00 for a minimum of 8 kids
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically with new sewing class customers, we start off with a simple project that can be completed with the 2 hour time frame, a pillow, skirt, tote bag, etc. I go over the basics of operating a machine as well as issue of safety. I discuss fabric selection as well as selecting the proper supplies. Sewing parties consist of us bringing the party to your home, as well as all sewing machines, fabrics and any materials needed for kids or adults to sew their preselected item.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a self-taught seamstress. I have n the past created a children's clothing line and was fortunate enough to have it carried in 7-10 boutiques. Along with sewing parties and classes, I have been creating dance costumes for Degas Dance Studio in Encino for over 5 years.
