I have worked as a freelance artist for over 20 years. I have drawn portraits, worked as a penciller, inker and colorist for comic books, illustrated children's books, created event logos and artwork, done concept art and storyboards, taught art lessons, designed book and CD covers, and more. I work in both traditional and digital media. I work full-time as an artist and am able to devote the time needed to deliver a high-quality product in a short-time frame. From a young age, I have found a great sense of satisfaction and fulfillment in doing art. As I began working professionally, I learned that I enjoyed being able to work with a client to bring their vision into reality. The jobs I enjoy the most are the ones where I deliver a product that exceeds the client's expectations.

Our design company was over-booked with projects when an additional illustration job came in that we were too busy to handle. FORTUNATELY we found Josh- and he was able to take on the project. He completed it PERFECTLY - QUICKLY - and required very little direction in order to turn the project around. We hope to definitely hire Josh again!

I have known Josh Barker for some years now. His artwork is always worth the price of admission. He has a special skill with dark themes, horror, monsters. This is not to say that he can't do other things well. It is just that the darker themes resonate with his artistic sensibilities and it shows.

I had a book that needed several pieces of artwork. I worked with five different artists, and Josh ended up being the artist that I used the most. I enjoy how good he is at expressing my concepts in a dynamic visual manner. I even decided to choose his art for my cover! He's always delivered good art to me, on time. I look forward to using his work again in the future!

My quoted price is an estimate based on the project's description. Negotiated rates may be available.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I prefer to speak on the phone at least once to get a sense of the personality of the project and the specific details that will lead to a satisfactory outcome. I typically provided a loose thumbnail sketch of what I envision for the final product for approval.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied traditional and digital art and animation at the Art Institute of Phoenix and American River College.
