FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Recording is 25 / hour, whereas mixing and production rates vary, depending on the project. As for mastering, 75 per song for a stereo master, and 125 for stems (major labels). This includes multiple revisions, as well as a PMCD or DDP if necessary. For independent artists we offer a discount of 25 on stereo masters and 25 on stems - also with multiple revisions included.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Concerning mastering, after discussing the project, the customer then transfers their pre-masters through a 3rd party service like Dropbox or WeTransfer (we can also provide a FTP link direct from our server). From there the material is reviewed and either work starts or some additional changes might be requested (or made on our end). Once the job is complete, the material is reviewed by the client and if approved, an exchange of payment is made for the masters. If not approved, their notes are reviewed, revisions are made, and then another round of masters is sent for review.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our head engineer, Wes Osborne, is completely self-taught in the field of recording, mixing and mastering. He has over 25 years of experience with recording, mixing and mastering and has also beta tested for Dave Hill (Crane Song / Dave Hill Designs), which in turn led to Wes being acknowledged in the manual of Dave's legendary mastering compressor / limiter, the Titan (Dave also gave Wes the prototype, which has customized settings vs. the commercial release).
