Introduction: I am a credentialed teacher who has graduated from college with a BA in Liberal Studies. I’ve earned a multiple-subject teaching credential as well as a single-subject teaching credential. I have a combination of twenty years of classroom teaching and tutoring under my belt. About eight years ago, I left the classroom to become a full-time tutor, and I love tutoring one-on-one. I do all of my own tutoring. I've invested in professional development and curriculum that I use to personalize my instruction to best suit the needs of each student. I build a good rapport with my students, making them feel comfortable to get out of their comfort zones and take risks to learn content they sometimes didn't think was possible for them to learn before they came to me. My test prep students see a great increase in their scores when they work with me, and those who come to me for reading, writing, and math also see improvements and results in their content knowledge and skills. I'm passionate about delivering just the right content at just the right time for each student, and I enjoy the variety of students' age levels and abilities. I know I'm not the least expensive tutor out there, but I will make more progress with your child than most because of my training, experience, and passion for learning. Even students who've hated math all their lives end up agreeing that it's not so bad, and often, they even come to enjoy it over time. Contact me now; you'll be glad you did. I’m located in Fallbrook, CA, and I tutor online via Zoom all over the United States. Ask about my referral discount or test prep package.

ACT Tutoring

Jenny was a fantastic ACT tutor for my son! I could not have picked a better tutor. Jenny worked with him this summer and was able to quickly ascertain his areas of strength and areas for needed development for the ACT. She also quickly assessed his learning style and put together an efficient customized learning/tutoring plan and tutoring schedule for the summer that helped him make huge strides in both his strongest and weakest sections of the ACT, improving his already high comprehensive test results by 5 points thus far with another week of tutoring yet to go! In particular she did an amazing job tutoring him on the English portion, helping him go from a 26 to a 35 in that section! He has really enjoyed working with her and looked forward to their tutoring sessions. I will be signing my younger son up for ACT tutoring with Jenny next summer for sure!

An extremely competent teacher--and very encouraging to my son. He's done much better in math since we've started working with her.

Math Tutoring

This educator is top notch!! Extremely professional, very intelligent] going, comfortable to be around and patient. My son lost confidence due to the actions of his current Math Teacher. It was heartbreaking to see, since he loves Math so much! When we decided to invest in the tutelage of Jenny,we could see that his love for math was returning, this happened within just one month!!! We have renewed out contract with her and looking foward to a continued partnership with her! Bridges Family

Jenny is the best! She worked with my son to get him through a few years of Math. Jenny was the perfect combination of knowledge and encouragement to my son. She was great at leading him to understand the concept and had a sweet disposition and personality working with him. He would not let me get any other tutor besides Jenny . . . a true complement coming from a 13 year old boy! She is responsible and always showed up on time. She is certified in so many things that I am certain there will be a need for her again in the near future for our family. Highly, highly recommend.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Please inquire about this, and I'll be happy to share my current rates with you. I offer a tutoring package for test prep students to give you more bang for your buck. I also have a referral program, so be sure to ask about this, as well.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I typically start with a phone consultation; this is when I learn about my new student's educational journey. I learn about any special needs and what my new client is looking for in a tutor. I am passionate about what I do, so I'm always excited to discuss all that I have to offer my students. When I meet with my student for the first time, I strike up rapport with him/her. I assess his/her skills to see just where s/he is. Then, I line up some lessons with which to supplement once school work is complete. I re-assess regularly to document measurable improvement and to drive my instruction. I build trust with my students, and they wind up feeling relaxed and confident in their abilities, which leads to a growth mindset. This mindset is open to learning, which enhances their experience with me. I'm often told that although math is difficult to understand in the classroom setting with their regular math teachers, it is easy to understand when I teach it to them.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have earned a multiple-subject teaching credential, a single-subject teaching credential in English, and a studio teaching license all in California. I have taught and tutored multiple grade levels over the past fifteen years. I was initially trained formally to tutor for college entrance exams (SAT & ACT) over ten years ago. The tests have changed a couple of times through the years, but I keep abreast of all changes and tutor my students for the current tests at all times. I've invested my time and sometimes my own money in training for the following professional development programs and positions: America Reads tutor; AVID tutor; Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) International children's leader; teacher, private tutor, and essay grader for college entrance exams; brain-based learning through Quantum Learning Network; Common Core Math for Elementary Teachers at the San Diego County Office of Education; three-day training to become a certified instructor of Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction (EBLI); eLearning Strategies Symposium, and much more.
