FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every student differs from others in aptitude, learning style, and learning speed. I try to be sensitive to the student's abilities and learning style, and every student moves at his or her own pace.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
After studying and performing for 25 years, I got started in teaching when someone who heard me play insisted that I teach her to do so. Not only did she help start me on my career--I also helped her start hers. She gives credit to the violin lessons she had from me for developing her ear to the point at which she can now earn her living as a piano tuner.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
At a student recital (Nov. 16, 2014), a dozen students performed for family and friends, and I had the opportunity to perform as part of two chamber groups. With a guitarist, I performed three Piazzolla tangos and Villa-Lobos' Aria from Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5. With a cellist and pianist, I performed the first Brahms Piano Trio.
