Serving Lake Forest California only. (Foothill Ranch) Hi! I’m a private swim instructor with over 40 years of experience. I specialize in helping beginners and intermediate swimmers build confidence, improve technique, and reach their goals at a comfortable pace. I work one-on-one with swimmers of all ages and tailor each lesson to your comfort level in the water. If you or your child are nervous or fearful around water, I’ll guide you step by step so you feel safe, supported, and encouraged. Marya has been an excellent swim coach for our 6 and 7 year olds! They’ve been shy about water and swimming for years and all the schools we tried in the past didn’t get them interested in swim. With Marya we could see a huge shift in willingness and enthusiasm just after their first lesson! She does a great job following the student’s pace and ability and my kids left each lesson excited and showing improvement. I’m sure she would do well with more advanced swimmers as well, my husband is looking to hire her for improving his form in swim for triathlon.

Mayra worked with my 6 year old daughter and helped her get over her fear of the water and become a strong swimmer! What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My price starts at $42 per 30 mins session or $80 per hour.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I first watch to see what the swimmer can do in the water and find their comfort level. We then start adding skills at their comfort level. I start pushing the comfort level slightly so that the swimmer will keep improving and gaining skill and technique. I’m a big proponent of proper technique because it is most efficient. With younger children we focus less on perfect technique and more on ability to get from point A to point B successfully and with the stroke requested.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have years of Red Cross CPR, First Aid, Lifeguarding, Lifeguard instructor, and Water Safety Instructor.
