My 10-year-old child has been part of the Silicon Valley Chess Club family for nearly three years, and my 6-year-old child and 9-year-old nephew have also recently joined. While the cognitive benefits of chess are well documented, what truly sets Coach Venkat apart is that he goes far beyond the scheduled class time and beyond simply teaching the game. Through constant motivation, engaging puzzles, virtual tournaments, and meaningful pep talks, he inspires children to grow both as players and as individuals. My older child, who once struggled emotionally after losing even casual games at home, now understands the true meaning of Nelson Mandela’s quote: “I never lose. I either win or I learn.” Coach Venkat’s consistent encouragement has boosted my kids’ confidence, sharpened their thinking, and helped them become smarter, more resilient risk-takers. - Dr. SPR TX USA
