FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My current prices are currently discounted because I am working to build my profile on ThumbTack -- you may see higher price on my website. For the shorter shoots (headshots, portraits) we will end up shooting for about an hour, although if we believe we can get something else valuable, I always have room to shoot a little longer. My standard package includes 2 processed images with the option to purchase more images at $25 each. I like to keep things simple: all other fees are including, including applicable sales tax. For more involved shoots with many outfits and locations there may be additional cost; I can cover that during the consultation once I know your needs. A common example is Senior Portraits, my standard for that is 2 locations, 3-4 outfit changes, and 5 processed images. Also, I should note, my primary studio is currently in my home and dogs are present (but restrained -- you only need to meet them if you want to). For outdoor headshots and senior photos I like to use parks near my clients.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After initial contact, we will discuss your specific needs so that we can customize a shoot for you. Are you a professional looking for a strong image for LinkedIn? Or an actor needing your first headshot package? I will also help you determine what to wear and how to prepare. During the session, I will coach you through posing to help you look your best and bring out your confidence. We will also keep open communication and discuss the images as we take them to make sure they are meeting your ultimate needs. After the session, we will usually use an online proofing gallery with lightly retouched versions of your images so that you can select which ones you would like to receive. Then I will carefully retouch your images (taking into consideration your needs and feedback) to accentuate your strengths and make you look your best.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My day job is as a software engineering manager. No formal photography education, although I do have a PhD in Computer Science.
