Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Find out what they need/ want, often it starts with Design, proofing and the sign off of the client of the Proof, a printed piece is generated and the client approves it or we go through sampling until the correct or desired color combination / paper choice is found.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Went thru Apprenticeships to Journeyman and Masterdegree in Germany, France and Switzerland.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
Cost of required materials, Inks, Type / Plates etc, Printing on the Windmill is 275.00 per color and run, a run is eg.500 pieces of paper, with small price increments for more paper added.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I like to read and became interested how they were made.
What types of customers have you worked with?
From Brides to Designers, Galleries, Publishing Houses, Artists and People who dream.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Business cards for a small Company, 2 colors and blind deboss. 25 Names, 1000 cards each, 3 days from start to finish delivered.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Don't just tell that you want 50 copies printed, describe how the printed piece should feel in your hand, as that helps to chose the right paper for your stock, also, quotes for 50 cards, 60 cards and 70 cards are usually not made.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
What they want, in Letterpress there is no such thing as easily run/print different colors only once to see how they look. After a design is executed, color samples are generated digital, than the desired paper, ink etc is purchased and the printing begins.
