As an actor, I have no problem acting in front of a camera, but I have always dreaded getting new "shots.". I have gotten decent shots in the past, but never really had a positive experience. An actor friend of mine showed me her new headshots taken by Ms. Flores-Gant, and I was blown away. Knowing this person, this photographer managed to really capture "HER." So I decided to take a chance. I was still dreading it, up until the moment that arrived, and Melissa started chatting with me about ME, my work, what music I liked, etc. I was immediately put at ease...and RELAXED. She is the only photographer that has actually captured me, my essence, and gave me exactly what I wanted....which is no easy task. I am very particular. I am a character actor, that also plays leading men....and she captured it all. My reps were estatic. Not only was I NOT uncomfortable, I actually enjoyed it! What I like about this photographer, above all others--is her style, yet she dials in, and captures YOU, your uniquness, your quirks, style, look, etc., instead of the "stock-this-is-my-style-photo I have gotten so many times in the past with good, some more well-known photographers. She is a master of color, yet maintains the "realness" that seems to be what so many casting directors seem to be looking for now. If you are an actor, I can't recommend Melissa Flores-Gant enough. Do yourself a favor. I am just a guy, who, in the past, would rather have a tooth pulled, than shoot new shots. Fantastic experience.

Both as an actor and academic tutor, I have solicited Melissa's services to do photographs (headshots) as well as color flyers promoting my work. I happily use Melissa on an ongoing basis, as she has a wonderfully creative eye for color, design, layout,and visual appeal. She offers her opinion when it is needed but never is overbearing. She is poised and confident about her beliefs and tastes but never is arrogant. Melissa completes the work in a timely and conscientious manner and takes pride in making it the finest in quality. She is soft-spoken, patient, kind and pleasant to work with. Melissa's attentiveness to the individual needs of the client is clearly reflected each and every time in the final product.

I worked with Melissa to capture my headshots currently in use. We first met to discuss what kind of shots I was looking for. We looked through a book of a great many photographers so that she could get an idea of what I liked. We discussed the option of shooting them in a studio or outdoors. I opted for the latter.
On the day of the shoot, we headed to DTLA and took advantage of the incredible backdrop our city has to offer. Most of our work together went down around Olvera Street and Union Station. We had a great time together. Let me stress how important it is to have a good time when getting your shots done. Melissa has the gift of putting her subjects at ease and in my opinion, that was enough to give her 5 stars.
Beyond that, Melissa is a consummate professional and her work proves this time and again. After our shoot day, she spent a lot of time tweaking my photos and helping me find the two I wanted to print. All of her work done in post was spot on and her enhancements never felt like overkill. That's also hard to come by as far too often I see pictures which hardly look like the actual subject or even humans in general.
When I get some new shots, I'd like to try and have them done in studio, just to have a different look. But one thing is for sure, I'll be going back to Melissa. I hope you do the same.

Melissa did an absolutely wonderful job. Her friendly disposition put me an ease from the start, and I felt that she was genuine. We did the shoot outside and she knew exactly what kind of background , lighting and wardrobe will work the best for me. I wanted nice dating site profile photos, and she delivered them as she had promised. I have received a lot of compliments and "likes" on them. Her price for the shoot was really reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate to work with her again.

This review is LONG overdue! We found eachother here on thumbtack and she was easy to coordinate with, upon arrival she was ready with her set up! She was comfortable to work with, My 6 month old loved her! She smiled and captured my baby and all her personality. from smiling to her sillyness and even was able to give me sleeping baby shots!! her and her husband made my baby smile and giggle! I would recommend her with 1000 stars!
