I'd select all five if Thumbtack allowed me to, for a total of 5/5. He and his partner asked if they could start a half hour early, which they did, and which definitely qualifies as punctual. They were completely professional, focused and efficient, and I'm quite pleased with the kitchen overhead light replacement they've done so far. They need additional equipment before replacing our air conditioner because of the concrete wall composition around our existing unit, so they insisted on only charging one hour instead of their standard two hour minimum because they were only able to complete half the jobs so far - that is definitely value. Furthermore, of the three handymen I contacted for this job, they are the ONLY ones who quote an hourly rate and actually *meant* it - the other two immediately quoted a total of approx. 6 times their hourly rate "because of the scope of work". I really appreciate someone who says it's an hourly rate, and MEANS it. Absolutely worth the value. I can't rave enough about how pleased I am with their work so far.

I hired Vanik for a fairly extensive list of tasks across two units at 6601 and 6603 S Figueroa St. The job included installing hard-wired smoke detectors with battery back-up, adding unit numbers, installing a transition strip, repairing an insect screen, and fixing the broken outdoor water outlets. He worked about 10 hours and completed most of the tasks well. The smoke detectors, transition strip, unit numbers, and insect screen were all done properly. The two outdoor water outlet repairs (common area garden hose bibs) were left unfinished — not because of lack of effort, but because the connections turned out to be soldered copper pipes with no threads, which requires a licensed plumber with soldering experience. He was upfront about this and explained the situation clearly. As for pricing — I had received quotes from other handymen ranging from $280 to $320 in labor only. With Vanik, labor came to $500 for 10 hours, and total cost including parts was $762.32. The work quality was good, but the rate is on the higher end compared to others I had quoted. Overall, Vanik is reliable and communicative, and his reviews speak for themselves — which is why I chose him. Just be prepared that pricing may run higher than average.

These guys were great. Came within in the hour I needed them to move a vanity that had been delivered to the wrong place.
