Yolanda was patient and kind to my daughter. She taught her so much in a few lessons! Her Spanish grade went up after lessons with Yolanda. She is the Best!!!!

Yolanda is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. Period. I was her student at Reseda High School for three years (Spanish 1 - 3). Under Yolanda’s guidance, I built a strong foundation in Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and culture, which has helped me achieve fluency in the language over the years. Yolanda is kind, patient, funny, and has a deep and broad expertise in numerous aspects of Spanish language and culture. She is a veteran teacher and knows how to make language learning a truly enjoyable experience. Yolanda deftly breaks down complex concepts (I’m looking at you, subjunctive mood!), rendering them more accessible and easier to understand. Highly recommended!

Señora Dave will forever be the one teacher I look back on that changed the trajectory of my life. I took her Spanish 2, 3 and 4 classes (advanced placement). As a student learning Spanish, I knew I enjoyed the language but struggled with tenses here and there. Señora Dave pushed each and every one of her students to succeed in my three years I was fortunate enough to be under her instruction. She was strict in the best ways- the way a mother is to her children. She cared about each and every one of her students as if they were one of her own. She saw the good in us, and through the support and attention she gave us, she watched us all thrive and succeed- even the kids who didn’t really care to be there in the first place. Señora Dave is more than just my high school Spanish teacher- she is my mentor and a great friend. I remember distinctly leaving her class for the summer. Quite honestly, I was debating whether I would continue on to the advanced course, AP Spanish 4. She pulled me aside as I was leaving and told me that she was looking forward to having me in the AP class next year, and watching how my Spanish- and confidence with the language- would grow. I left that day with determination and excitement. I was fortunate enough to travel abroad to Spain that summer and opted to only speak Spanish, to practice for the upcoming year. I fell in love, with the language and culture, and for the first time in my life I had true passion for a subject matter. Yolanda is inspiring, and she is dedicated. Most importantly, however, she sees each one of her students for who they really are- and who they have the potential to become. Señora Dave gave us “tense tests” that finally made sense, due to the repetitive structure and nature of the exam. She had us watch telenovelas, and listen to Spanish music. She is the reason my workout playlists are about 50% Spanish pop! But all silliness aside, she was the determining force in why I double majored in Psychology and Spanish in college. To this day, now with a masters degree and a career in law enforcement, we still meet for lunch, go to Spanish plays, and catch up and reminisce like the good friends we are. She still corrects my Spanish!! And I love it 😍 I 100% would recommend Yolanda Dave to anyone for tutoring. If you’re excited about learning Spanish, she will heighten that excitement. If you or your child just needs that extra help, her methods are unparalleled and a true recipe for success. I am so fortunate to have Yolanda in my life, I cherish her as an inspiring teacher and now as a friend. She recognized my potential from an early age and never gave up- she watched and helped me grow into my own, as she did with all my peers- regardless their intentions on pursuing the language long term- and she will do the same for you. Yolanda, if you are reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me who I am today. I love you and am so happy to have been your student in my early Spanish years.

We’ve used Yolanda quite a few times. The benefit to having her as a tutor is that because she’s a former teacher, she really understands how to help your child learn. My daughter was very successful in her Spanish 1 class because of Yolanda!

$40.00 an hr. plus $10.00 for a commute.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I evaluate and review prior knowlege of subject matter so as to determine where to start. I give an overview of what i can do for him/her and put them at ease. I'm a very friendly person and have had tremendous success due to my 34 yrs of experience with thousands of students.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A Bachelors degree and a Masters degree in Spanish from CSUN. Secondary and Community college credentials. 34 years of teaching experience with LAUSD, Valley College,Pierce College and CSUN. Mentor teacher for LAUSD for over 20 years. Teacher of the Year at Taft High and Reseda High. Excellent recomendations from Administrators.
