About
I’m a dedicated tuner/technician with years of experience in private homes, concert halls, and recording studios. I initially apprenticed under one of California’s top technicians, taught piano technology at the Apollo School of Music & Arts, and had the privilege of working and learning from some of the finest piano rebuilders in the San Francisco area before taking my skill set out east.
It will be my pleasure to free your family piano of sticky keys, squeaks and buzzes, or make your professional-grade piano produce angelic tones from a blisteringly fast piano action.
A little about me: My name is Levi. I have an engineering degree with a background in circuit design, manufacturing, and hand assembly of guitar effects pedals. I love music. Like a lot. I play the bass, piano and a smattering of other instruments. I’ve toured the country in bands, composed for the likes of PBS, had a short stint as a jingle writer and am a regular foley artist for various video games. In my spare time I create educational content for my Tiktok audience of over 100,000 regular viewers. Centered around tuning theory and acoustic science. The goal for my videos is to find new crossroads between the disciplines of math, science and music, and inspire a new approach to how we think about music.

Our experience with Hammer and Key was excellent. They communicated effectively and professionally, provided am alert when they were within greed arrival time and did a great job with our 95 year old baby grand piano. Highly recommend.

Great experience with Levi. He was able to schedule me in less than a week after I reached out. He talked to me about what he was doing as he worked (even showed me how to fix the sustain pedal) and the piano sounds great now!

Levi was able to accommodate my scheduling needs, and arrived promptly on time. He was also able to fix some double-striking keys on my piano for modest extra cost. It plays and sounds like a whole new instrument now. Thank you!

Levi explained all he was going to do. He was very thorough when tuning my piano. He spent extra time on some keys to get the sound he wanted. My piano sounded great, the way it's supposed to

I’ve been searching for a piano tuner for years and was always unsure who to trust and for what price, since my piano had not been tuned in 30+ years and is 132 years old. Levi stood out from the very beginning with all the information on his page and website and the other positive reviews. I contacted him and he was quick to respond with an accurate estimate that he did not raise, there was no additional charges for a few minor repairs he made to my piano. I even asked him to look at a pedal real quick and he was able to fix that aside from the fact he was only here for a tuning. He didn’t charge me for it either. He was extremely knowledgeable and answered any and all questions I had. When he played a few songs to check the tuning and sound, it brought tears to my eyes because that piano had never sounded so good, it was quite remarkable. Highly recommend Levi! I will be recommending him to anyone who asks and even those who don’t.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our tuning price is $175, or $200 for pianos which have not been tuned in a long time. I charge a little more than average but I focus on getting as much done in an appointment, instead of charging for each individual repair. This means I can do the most for your piano (repairs + tuning) in one appointment at what comes out to be a cheaper cost than getting repairs done individually anywhere else.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My Service Coordinator will probably be the first person you speak with, but I'm happy to discuss your needs when I'm not working in someone's home. We can talk, text, or email if you're more comfortable with that.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a composer, songwriter, and videographer. I have a keen ear developed over years of working with bands, clients and my own music. I have an electronics background as well and have designed my own guitar effects pedals. I have also studied piano technology at Apollo School of Music and worked extensively in the shop at SF PianoWorks where I focused on piano rebuilding.
