My husband and I wanted color advice to bring light and cohesion to large spaces. Sam sowed us samples within our comfort sound and then offered alternatives that made the rooms pop! We went with all of her suggestions!! Can hardly wait for the painter to come and do the work. Sam really knows color and sees variations that most of us don't see, but then she them when she puts two samples side by side. I highly recommend her.

Thanks so much, Sally, it was a delight to meet with you & Al -- and we got all 6 of those rich new hues selected in just a tad over an hour too! I'd love to know how everything turns out and please let me know if you need painter referrals too (can contact me via my website). Cheers & don't forget to take those "before" pics....once in place, these warm new colors are going to make you fall in love with your lovely home all over again.

Sam is a jewel of a design consultant. She based her suggestions entirely on our desires and preferences, rather then pushing her own preferences on us. She is a wonderful and caring person. We definitely would recommend her to our friends.

Vicki and her hubby just moved into an older home when they contacted me for help. I assisted them with selecting (lovely!) paint colors for all rooms in their house, including enhancing the architecture in their dining room by more appropriately harnessing the visual properties of color when repainting their room's dramatic interior columns & archways, along with a redesign of the adjacent living room's fireplace/focal wall via color. Additionally, I worked with them in talking through their need to remodel their kitchen which included the removal of an awkwardly placed corner pantry taking up valuable space on the focal wall. After I suggested deleting an unnecessary second doorway to the dining room (further enhancing the smallish kitchen's planned update re: functionality), I then created 3D renderings with an initial layout design so they could visualize the changes they were wanting to implement (including two different cabinetry options as requested). And I was delighted when these passed muster on the very first round. At this second in-home appt. to present the renderings, I also provided Vicky with some space planning assistance re: helping her existing furniture find just-right spaces in her new home. As Vicki kindly shared, I do listen carefully to my client's needs -- and strive to create a roadmap for the direction THEY're envisioning for their home...

About this pro

Unlike the majority of designers and decorators who are typically commissioned salespeople, I do NO retailing of merchandise whatsoever. Instead, I uniquely give away my professional trade discounts. So my clients are free to shop wherever they like (including online) and can often use my discount to save 10% - 40+% (plus they have the assurance of knowing I haven't "talked them into" a purchase). I have a strong sense of color and mixing fabrics/patterns is also a specialty of mine – overall I enjoy bringing fresh ideas in providing solutions to my clients decorating dilemmas and also zero in on what a homeowner’s own style is vs. imposing my own personal taste/preferences. Additionally, I provide 2D/3D space planning w/ realistic renderings so clients can test-drive various ideas on paper BEFORE buying or building (I utilized this skill in designing my own custom residence for which I also served as the general contractor; I also have hands-on experience with whole-house renovations, including doing much of the work myself). A newer option I've now added is re-coloring exterior photos of a client's own home so they can see various color palette options (including adding/deleting various architectural features/elements) -- this tool is especially ideal for those who have trouble visualizing. I also provide these sorts of services to clients remotely (“e-interior design”) via email. Lastly, as a result of my 20+ years experience, I've also been widely quoted in the national media as a design expert (AOL, FoxNews.com, Chicago Tribune's nationally syndicated columns, BobVila.com, Bed Bath & Beyond's blog, and the National Home Furnishings Assoc., et al.), and I write feature articles on design for the 150-yr. old newspaper which serves western Nevada County. These and other decorating articles are contained in the Library on my detailed website. The degree of satisfaction I receive both personally and professionally from seeing how pleased my clients are with their new and improved surroundings which, each time, are uniquely tailored to THEIR needs, taste, and budget. I have strong feelings about the importance of "home" and value the opportunity to help others bring to life their vision of what their own home should be...
