Introduction: My name is Sophie, I am a native French speaker from Belgium and have over fifteen years of teaching experience. After being a middle school language teacher for years I realized that my passion was for tutoring adults and teenagers one on one or in small groups. I love to build on whatever foundations (if any) my students already have and my approach is fun and interactive, the goal being to communicate as much as possible. I like to think that I make my students confortable enough to actually speak French when in real life situations. That is done by using a lot of open-ended activities such as dialogues, improvisations, Flashcards, games etc.

French Lessons

Sophie has been an excellent teacher that tailors my lessons to my specific needs, and who augments the lessons with ad hoc conversation in French to reinforce concepts.

My daughter looks forward to her two weekly French sessions with Sophie. Her educational training as a middle school teacher in Belgium has prepared her for working 1:1 and 1:2 with her pupils. She is all 5 of the above qualities.

Sophie is a very patient teacher. She uses many tools to teach French. She is very supportive and finds many ways to get a concept across tiger students. She is gracious and used humor at times to make learning easier. Highly recommended!
