Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I provide daycare for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. I include a preschool curriculum within my daycare, and have a special emphasis in creative activities such as music, art, etc. I am also a member of the CACFP (Child Care Food Program), and provide my children with nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. It is important to feel comfortable with the provider you hire. This person would ideally be someone who has a warm and friendly character, and who truly does seem to love working with children. It's important that you are fully aware of all the details regarding the daycare program, and so don't be afraid to ask questions, and make sure to read your contracts thoroughly.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. If i were a customer, I would want to know what the most important things to look for in a daycare home would be.

Although there are various aspects to consider when choosing a daycare home, I believe that the most important thing in considering a daycare is the quality of the provider you are leaving your child with. You may want to ask yourself, does this person seem like a genuinely good person? Does this person seem to enjoy working with children? Is this person educated in the field of child development? Will this provider provide educational opportunities for my child throughout the day? I believe these types of questions will provide the best insight as to how the overall quality of your child's daycare experience will be.
