Introduction: Thank you for contacting me, through Thumbtack. I am the perfect fast and fun artist for your event! Party entertainment is my profession & I love adding that extra punch, fun appeal, to parties. Many times people have told me "you made our party!", "you were a hit!":-), "You are so fast"!
I have over 180 great reviews on the internet: Yelp, GM, Thumbtack, and more. Some of the reasons are: My speed, (see my ultra fast speed below), my nice style of drawing, my heavy art paper, & my professionalism.
I have a 4 hour minimum for most events. The charge is: 4 hrs = $640 w/a 4 hr minimum plus travel if applicable.
Here are 15 pluses/highlights about my service:
1. I am fast! Since you have a large number of people at your event you will need a fast artist. Here are my per person speeds: #1."Ultra Quick Caricatures" these head & shoulders, pics take only 2-3.5 mins! #2. "Quick Caricatures". These activity/situation, head & body pics take only 2.3- 4.8 min," Themes include: beach, sports, shopping, & much more. I spend appox 2 min more on the person of honor's, to make it extra nice. All my drawing have shading. It sometimes take an addl 10 -85 secs for the last person to get up & the next prsn to sit down.
2. I use heavy card stock paper. This paper stands on its own when put on a shelf & is 50% - 80% thicker than what I've seen other artist use. I find that this thicker paper looks nicer than the thinner inexpensive paper.
3. As I draw the guests, I converse w/ the people and bring them into the fun of it all!.
4. I add humor to the caricature drawing w/ fun funny situations & backgrounds. I only add family appropriate humor. Often you will hear laughter from the guests when I am drawing.
5. No addl charge for: Entertainers Insurance - Additionally Insured Certificate. Let me know if you need me to have Entertainers Insurance.
6. No addl charge for color. Please let me know so I can bring my colors supplies. Color takes longer.
7. I have a business license.
8. I teach kids so a school gave me a background check & it's spotless.
9. A clear bag's included.
10. Some artist pre-draw w a pencil. I don't, I use the the fast, "marker only" method. It's quicker & more entertaining to watch.
11. I add shading, which adds dimension & appeal to the drawing.
12. Set up - For the guest to see my style, I display framed caricature samples, (many times people have said to me they never get caricatures, but when they saw my samples, they wanted one of mine).
13. I draw my caricatures using a traditional french wooden easel. This adds to the appeal of having an artist at the event.
14. I come early to set up. There is no charge for the set up time.
15. Single, double, and multi person caricatures are fine.
I started drawing quick when I was in elementary and High school. I wanted to send Christmas cards to my friends & family. I did not like any of the art on the 40 card value packs. I decided to make my own Christmas cards using fun art print holiday cards of animals I bought for inspiration. I would capture the likeness/essence & humor in my drawing. I had a lot to do so I worked quickly. I found through doing this that when I draw fast I actually draw better!
Later, in college at CSULB, I would practice drawing my friends quickly. This interest in drawing fast & accurate increased my skill & speed. After college, when I was 26, I got a business license. I started a business in Ports O' Call Village near the LA harbor, & maintained for 9 1/2 yrs. Here I did quick realistic watercolor portraits, silhouettes, & caricatures. Drawing practically every day also increased drawing ability. Today I am very busy with my event business where I am hired to travel to different corporate & private events to create "take home" caricatures gifts for the guest.
