FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I'm working on developing my Thumbtack reputation, so I am working well under my usual fees!
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to get in touch, figure out what the customer is looking to do, maybe hear a rough recording of what they're working on if they have it, but if not, it's pretty direct: I have a great portable recording rig if the customer prefers to record in their home, or they can visit me in Lake Arrowhead to record. I set up, we make sure the artist has a great sound in the very nice headphones I bring along, we do as many takes as necessary to get a great pass at all the lines in the tune, then we edit together the very best of the takes to get a master take. Then we listen very critically to see what can be optimized; are there some notes that could be better in tune? I've done a LOT of that. Passages that might be a little more aligned with the groove of the song? No problem. At that point I print a mix for the customer right there, then take the track to my studio to mix it for real. A round of mastering (making sure everything is clean and punchy and nice and hot on the master) and we're done!
