Introduction: My name is Cherie Guy. I have been using QuickBooks for 10 years.
It is my passion to help people. It is important to realize that time is money. I had a client who spent hours trying to reconcile his bank statement. He was terribly frustrated and called me. I looked at his checking account and found that a transaction had been deleted. I re-entered the transaction and finished reconciling his account. All of this took under 30 minutes. What could he have been doing with the saved time - perhaps setting up an appointment with a potential client.
It is important to have a separate checking account for business. Do not co-mingle funds. The IRS will ask you to prove that a transaction is a business expense. Time is money. This is potentially costly!
It is important to enter everything that is on a bank statement into QuickBooks. Never assume that a deposit is income. It could be a refund. It is important to reconcile your checking account every month. We are all human beings subject to human errors. I have found expenses entered twice. I have found bank charges not entered.
If you invoice in QuickBooks, it is important to remember to record the customer payment to the invoice, otherwise the invoice shows unpaid in QuickBooks.
It is important to remember to enter all cash receipts into QuickBooks. Cash receipts do not appear on your bank statement. If you do not manage your cash receipts, you will pay more in taxes.
It is important to properly categorize your expenses.
The above is a short summary of how I help individuals. You would be amazed at how much you can learn with a little bit of private tutoring. You will be so relieved.
I am very patient, and I love what I do. I look forward to helping you feel confident about using QuickBooks.
Regards,
Cherie Guy
