I am so lucky to have found Howard Lane!! From the moment I met him I knew he was my contractor. He listened to what I wanted and then gave me two options which I really liked. He could do this for this amount of money or this plan for this. I really wanted cement siding and Howard did my whole house within my budget. (other contractors wanted more for aluminum siding). He was always on time and worked thru some very hot weather even after I told him to go home. He is a perfectionist! I can’t begin to tell you how much I like the work he did! Took a really ugly old house and turned it into a charming home. I’m so honored to be able to give Howard a review and if you want a reliable, hard working contractor ….Howard Lane is your man.

I would have checked “all of the above” if given that option!
Howard always showed up on time, was willing to be flexible when my husband had him work on other projects, he is a professional who knows his trade and did an outstanding job for us building exterior staircase and replacing siding & window on our home, tore out damaged drywall ceiling & put up new ceiling among other miscellaneous tasks.
Howard is very friendly and completely honest in his billing. I highly recommend him for any of your home improvement needs.

Mr. Lane, was extremely helpful. His expertise was obvious and he patiently explained things in a way a non expert like myself could easily understand. I appreciate that he didn’t try to talk us into unnecessary services. As we actually didn’t end up needing the work we thought we did. If we do in the future he will definitely be my first call, highly recommend.

Howard offered to help me with suggestions even though he did not feel he would be taking the job because of inexperience in the kind of deck I was wanting. Who does that kind of thing?? After talking with him I was sure that I wanted him to do the job as it was/is evident that he is a Godly, kind and ethical man and I felt sure he would be fair with me….and I was not disappointed. He researched the deck that I wanted and did a wonder Job. I am right now sitting on my beautiful deck. Thank you Howard… you are the best.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I almost always give a fixed quote, on things under the surface such as dry rot, termite damage or improper framing, it would be either re-bid after finding things that can't originally be seen or by the hour (ask for appropriate rates between $50-75 an hour).
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Process: free estimate, explain options, understand customers needs, and timeframe, present quote within 1-5 business days depending on how busy I am. Sign contract, explaining terms. Pull permit, order materials, plan what tools are needed and any subs, communicate along the way make sure customer is happy about the remodeling process no matter the size. On very small projects, the process is simplified, but I always direct in a way that fits the customer's needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My foundation for my skills first came with natural talent of being good with my hands and a passion for creating and fixing, starting as early as 5 years old. I took all the shop classes my school had to offer from 8-12 grade. Took a mechanical type air cargo job out of high school for the USAF. Then took an apprentice carpenter job, after the USAF. That led to a career as a general remodeling contractor where I developed my current skill set though decades of experience.
