Introduction: Shani Rose is a Los Angeles native singer/songwriter, pianist, and guitarist; a "Pop/Rock Songstress with a Soulful Crunch". Shani began her musical journey at the age of 7 when she first learned piano. Many years later, she graduated from the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, where she studied jazz piano, songwriting, and composing. She also received a Masters Degree in Music Education from USC, and teaches private music lessons to children and adults. Shani has performed extensively both as a soloist, a duo, and with a band (for weddings, private parties, and more), and is currently a featured artist at the world famous Universal Citywalk in Hollywood. Shani can draw in a crowd with her mix of contemporary covers, her own original songs, and groovy classics; her soulful voice combined with guitar, keyboard, and occasional ukulele playing lends to a dynamic and multi-dimensional show. She often throws in songs from such artists as Adele, Jason Mraz, Pharrell Williams, Rihanna, Marvin Gaye, Etta James, Ed Sheeran, and John Legend, just to name a few. And, she offers a professional experience -- providing her own keyboard, guitar, sound system, and microphones that are perfect for indoor or outdoor venues, and offering competitive prices! Shani will make you dance, sway in your seat, laugh, cry, and feel the magic of the moment, whatever your event might be. Shani is also flexible in learning any special requests you might have for your event that she does not already know, as well as writing custom songs for a special occasion that you might want to make even more special. She is looking forward to bringing the magic of the music to your next event! "Being able to provide the soundtrack to any momentous occasion in your life is what excites me every day about being a performing musician. I love working with clients to give them and their guests a unique experience. Music is a universal language that makes us feel - if I can do that for someone's wedding, birthday, memorial, or even a simple dinner party, then I've done something impactful in this world." - Shani

Shani is a great performer! She accompanies herself on piano and guitar, so it saves $ because you don't have to pay two musicians. Her voice has a great range. She performs a wide array of fun popular cover songs--modern and vintage. She's your go-to gal for an event like an engagement, wedding, or any-kind-of-party! I've also heard her perform her original songs--stellar. I'd love to hire her to write\perform a song for my significant other as a surprise!

Shani is a total delight to work with. A true professional in every sense of the word. Whenever I work with her I never have to ask any questions because her thorough preparation answers everything first. She pays a very punctual, competitive rate and is always fair and transparent. I've known her for many years and have played many shows with her. Her music puts a smile on everyone's face. I would recommend hiring her and her band for any event intimate to grand and I would highly recommend working with /for her at any capacity, anywhere!

Shani Rose was a solo entertainer for my wife's surprise 50th birthday Great easy listening contemporary playlist Great voice and variety. Has all her own equipment. Very personable, punctual and professional young woman. She was even able to stay extra on short notice and for great price. Everyone of the 30 attendees enjoyed her music and singing. She can play her own compositions too! Thank you Shani!! So grateful you were a wonderful part of our celebration.

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

FOR PRIVATE EVENTS (weddings, birthdays, corporate events, etc.): I will usually jump on a short phone call with you to chat about the logistics of the event, and to say hi! We'll go over your event (if it's outdoor/indoor, what I need for my setup, the length of the event, and if there are any song requests). I am happy to answer any questions you might have. To confirm the booking and reserve the date on the calendar, I have clients put down a deposit via paypal/venmo, and we both sign a short performance agreement outlining the details of the event. As the event draws near, I make myself available to walk my clients through anything they might need regarding the performance. FOR TEACHING: I usually ask my clients about their goals for their lessons, and what they would like to learn. I am flexible and open to trying different songs and different approaches with my students, depending on skill, age, instrument, and focus. Music and learning music is supposed to be fun, so I approach my teaching in that way! For children who are just learning how to read music and develop the dexterity in their instrument, we start with learning games, that incorporate theory but in an interactive and fun way. Then we strike a balance between working on those fundamentals and on the songs the child is passionate about learning. The approach is similar for adult students as well!
