We had a small dinner party of 10 for our business Christmas party, Chef Shain & Sam were absolutely wonderful! I was responsible for planning the menu, which I had never done before, I was a bit uneasy about making dinner selections for 10 (mostly picky eaters). Once we made the decision to hire Chef Shain my confidence grew, he was so gracious and patient with me the entire time! Due to Chef Shain's attentiveness throughout the planning process, I admit I had high expectations for the night of our event. Beginning to end we would not have changed a thing, from the introduction, the quality and taste of the food, the presentation, as well as the kitchen being left in immaculate condition- Chef Shain & Sam played a primary roll in making our night a memorable celebration.

Chef Shain was the full package! I wanted a French/Louisiana style menu for my wife’s surprise birthday dinner and he hit the nail on the head! He also catered to our dietary restrictions making each course gluten and dairy free! He was extremely professional and took us on the culinary journey with personal stories about why certain dishes were important to him. He elevated our experience and we will definitely use ChefShain for our next event. Sam-our server for the evening (provided by the Chef), was equally professional and attentive. He made sure everyone was happy and had exactly what they needed. This team really knocked the ball out of the park!

I booked Chef Shain for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday dinner for two. Chef Shain was super responsive and willing to work with the client. He incorporated all of my suggestions and crafted a custom menu based on our dietary restrictions/preferences. He was super punctual, professional and did a great job on the food prep, presentation and serving. The food was delicious too! Would definitely book again!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    Rates vary per service. Baseline rate for a private dinner is $250 for 2 people and scales up based on overall guest count. *Grocery costs are not covered in my personal fee / quote. Travel outside of NYC area is billed at $25 an hour.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    I like to do an initial consultation, to discuss the type of event, client expectations and overall budget. I like to think of it as a collaborative process that allows us to communicate clearly, which can create a great working relationship for us both.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    I’ve worked in the industry 20 years, ranging from back of house/line cook, to front of house, bartending/event manage,ent and every position in between.
