FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a 15 minute consultation for prospective students. During this time we can talk about goals, prior experience, any injuries or sensitivities and get a general feeling of whether this could be a good match. I think it's important for me to explain my approach to Pilates and how I work - teachers are all so different! The first lesson is $45. My hourly rate is $80, but ask me about senior discounts and package discounts.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First lessons are a chance to really see if it's a good match! In a first lesson we'd work on some preliminary exercises to assess core connections, breath and focus, movement habits, and how balanced someone is in their strength and flexibility. I place a lot of emphasis on increasing body awareness and my cues reflect that, so a first lesson also introduces many verbal cues of imagery. I check in with students often to see where they are feeling the movement, and the effort level. That's especially important now when sessions are over Zoom. If someone is brand new to Pilates, there's also going to be more explanation of core concepts, and we break down the exercises into their basic components then put them back together.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My Pilates teaching certification is from Long Beach Dance Conditioning, under the guidance of master teacher, Marie-Jose Blom. My BA is in Dance and Choreography from UCLA. I am a member of Pilates Method Alliance.
