Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I am a dog behaviorist and teach you techniques that your dog will instinctually understand and respond immediately to you because it is not a learned behavior, we are tapping into your dogs natural prey drive and play drive. I enjoy the "ah ha" moments a client gets when they overcome a behavioral challenge they've had with a dog and literally fix it in minutes because we essentially speaking in a language the dog's basic instincts will understand. I do this through, sound, touch an posture. I usually work with the dog for the first 15 minutes so that the client can see how it works and that it works. Then I spend the rest of the time having them do the techniques, I like to crack jokes almost like a stand up routing and us similar life stories to explain the "why" behind what we are doing and the reasoning behind why it makes sense. Now if I could only make the guys I date as obedient as the dogs I work with ... just kidding.

I have had the good fortune to have Shay work with our dogs on two occasions: In the first case, she intervened when our 13-year-old Lab began exhibiting signs of separation anxiety, barking and other unpleasant behaviors after a move. Shay immediately corrected the problems with the dog directly and then taught our family how to use verbal cues, body language and rewards so that the good behavior continued. In the second case, Shay taught the family how to socialize, house train and use simple commands with a new puppy. In addition to modeling correct behavior and explaining the reward philosophy behind each action, Shay created a document that the family could refer back to. She articulated the most common desired behaviors and outlined the steps to achieve them—a roadmap that the family could use to problem solve and provide consistency for the new addition. I wholeheartedly recommend Shay for teaching, training, intervention and course correction—she is equally accomplished at training the dog and communicating with the family to establish and maintain the pet’s desired behavior.

My boxer Lola started showing aggressive behavior towards other dogs in the last few months. She also didn’t listen to me when she was off leash causing major stress. Shay was able to show me amazing tips and tricks that worked with Lola and her behavior did a 180. She now listens when I tell her to come and also doesn’t pull me when walking. I no longer feel stressed out when I walk her or when she is playing with other dogs. Shay is incredibly knowledgeable regarding how to communicate with dogs. You see a complete change of behavior when your dog is around her. She also works with you and helps you communicate better with your dog. I feel a much stronger bond with Lola than I did before now that I have implemented what Shay has taught me. She also explains to you the psychology behind why your dog behaves a certain way and compares it real life situations with people, making it easier to relate and understand what your dog is experiencing when you talk or act a certain way towards them. Shay was able to spot things I was doing that were causing her behavior within just a few minutes. I thought I could just teach myself by watching tv shows such as Caesar Milan or reading online; but the few things I was doing wrong; I probably would not have known if it wasn’t for Shay’s abilities to read the energy between people and dogs so well. It was these little things that I didn’t even know I was doing. So glad to have found Shay and I hope to continue working with her for Lola!!!

Shay and her very well behaved German Shepherd Luna have been my neighbor for a few years. I lovingly call the duo The Mayors of Marina del Rey as when we walk through the neighborhood, I am constantly amazed at how many people stop her and comment on how well behaved her dog is. It's always fun to see Shay take one look at an animal and be able to determine what the issue is and why that animal isn't behaving as it's owner wishes. She's always willing to give a quick tip on a correction for a dog. The owners are always thrilled at how quickly and easily Shays recommendations work on their dogs. The only dogs I have ever let in my apartment are Luna or dogs that Shay has trained, as I know they are not going to chew on anything, not pee on anything, and in general behave! I tell all of my friends if they have a dog, they have to call Shay. Even if your dog doesn't have major behavior issues, her connection that she has with animals and owners is sure going to help you enjoy your pet even more!
