Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Willa Work is a multifaceted design studio founded by architectural designer Grey Shaeffer (she/her). >note we are not a drafting service. If you are looking for a drafting service please contact another pro< Working collaboratively Willa Work develops deep and thoughtful architectural and interior solutions for our clients. Our work scales from the smallest measurable details to the overarching broader more conceptual strokes. Our design methodologies are derived from integrating clients evolving needs. Not just designing for now but thinking critically about the clients future. This concept reverberates into everything designed. Our passion is to provide a proverbial garden in which the client can flourish in. Founder and main designer Grey graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Reed College and then went on to study architecture at both Columbia University in New York and Sci-Arc. During her studies she also attended the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Grey is an avid traveler having taken as many opportunities to travel as possible. Her passport is up to date. Living for 10 years in Los Angeles and working for well-respected architectural and interior design firms, Grey opened her first studio Foundation for Architecture and Design in 2017. In 2021 Grey changed the name to Willa Work after her daughter's middle name Willa. Mid-2020 Grey moved with her family to the quaint Bay-area town of Mill Valley, where the Redwoods meet the sea. She continues to work for clients up and down the West Coast and beyond. When she is not working away in the studio, Grey is found in the garden with her three children building whatever they can dream up. Being a plant enthusiast She also volunteers as a docent for the San Francisco Botanical Garden. We look forward to building what you can dream up. note: We are happy to assist you in major remodels, ADU, commercial projects and new construction. However, we are not purely a drafting/permitting service. We do drafting and permitting alongside our design work as a complete project. If you are looking for only drafting and permitting services please look into other Pros on this platform.

Grey is a dream to work with. She is a visionary that knows the ins-and-outs of project construction timelines and techniques. She is a finder of unique one of kind materials and knows how to use them. Her eye for detail and design integrity is self evident if you tour any one of her projects. I always find something new.

Willa Work solved a tricky attic bathroom addition and all within my budget. She took my Pinterest dreams and made them a reality! So glad I found her, would use her again on future projects.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I find it important to get a really good sense of what the client wants the end product to be and work towards that goal.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a masters degree in Architecture and have worked at some amazing interior design firms in Los Angeles. I branched out on my own in 2017

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I began as someone interested in Social Anthropology and how people create and use space. This led me to look into Architecture - in the sense that it is the built environment that we create for ourselves and others. I believe that the places you inhabit have a direct impact on your well-being.
