I have developed a device to assist contractors in the building of swimming pools. For the past several months, I have wondered if it was a good idea to acquire a patent so that I could sell the design to a company with manufacturing capability.
After Richard spent some time outlining the benefits and shortcomings of pursuing a patent for this device, I concluded that a patent would not provide the near-term support that I would need to sell the design.
