Active Tutoring

Introduction: Got a square peg who can't fit in the round hole? Not everyone learns the same way! I provide tutoring for kids who may not really love school, but still love to learn. I keep them moving or creating and learning, in the way that is unique to their individuality. "Creative intelligence" has a chance to come out. People more prone to feel their way through life are "experiential learners". "Kinesthetic learners" learn with their body and mind. They sit all day or all school year in a desk and push paper, and at the end of the day, they're exhausted and they can't recall a thing. What do I work on? Reading, math, memorizing, writing, expressing, connecting concepts, and filling in the holes that happen in a typical classroom. I've worked with A.D.D., A.D.H.D., sensory integration, Pre-K through middle school. I have access to all the California State texts, to give warm ups to the grade that's ahead, or keep reviewing to make last year stick. I can help. I'm a mom, a college student, and a teacher. This stuff takes patience, understanding, and experience. Goals are based on the individual. Sessions are two hours. Activities center around the individual student and include running, jumping, rolling, brushing, baseball, basketball, and sandbox play. We can also work with mud, clay, paint, and computers. The creative process flows with the educational plan. I also have classes for kids, teens and adults in photography and computer literacy.
