I provide services in two areas: College Admissions Coaching and ADHD/academic coaching. As regards college admissions, I have over 15 years experience helping students apply to college. I can oversee the whole process from picking a slate of schools, to completing applications, to asking for teacher recommendations. I have a particular strength in assisting with the Common App essays, the UC PIQ's, and the varied supplemental essays. I especially love working with ADHD/AuDHD students who are searching to find the ideal place to flourish.
My ADHD/academic coaching involves helping high school and college students manage their academic workloads. With subjects like math, science and language, I focus on making sure students keep on top of their assignments, plan to study for tests, and access the help that is available from teachers, professors and the schools they attend. My approach is similar for humanities classes (English, history, social science, etc. . . ). However, with these classes, I have an additional level of expertise in the areas of essay writing and research that allows me to provide an even greater amount of assistance. I wholeheartedly recommend Deirdre for her college admission coaching services. We purchased her full-service package and it was worth every penny. My son was late-diagnosed with ADHD, resulting in a high school GPA that did not accurately represent his intelligence, creativity, and intellectual curiosity. When we first spoke to Deirdre, after talking with a couple of other coaches, the first thing that struck me was that she wasn’t coming at it from the angle of what he would need to do to compensate for his lower GPA and test scores. Instead, she immediately saw my son’s strengths and talked about how to highlight those to make him stand out and how to find schools that would be the right fit for him and vice versa. Throughout the process, she always focused on his strengths and identifying schools where those strengths would be valued.
She helped us develop a list of schools to apply to, helped my son come up with essay ideas, guided him through the writing process, helped him figure out which ECs to include and how to best describe them, and just generally kept him on track through the entire process. She even helped him sort through the acceptances and offers and come to a final decision.
My son was accepted to every safety and target school he applied to and most of his reaches, so he ended up with a really wide range of options to choose from. The sheer number of acceptances, including those reaches, really boosted his confidence, which has, in turn, made him a better student and I’m sure will serve him well as he embarks on college. Thanks to Deirdre, I now understand that it is all about choosing the right schools based on the student’s interests and strengths, and her knowledge and insight into what makes my son special gave us the ability to do just that.

We had a fantastic experience with Mrs. Allen. My son was stuck with his essays. Mrs. Allen was very patient; her approach was to "give student the fishing rod instead of the fish". After submitting his EA applications with Deirdre's help, he was able to write twice as many essays on his own for regular admission. Mrs. Allen was always available if he had any questions. I don't know what his essays were about, but he got accepted to several good schools, including an Ivy League one, which he chose to attend.

We used Deirdre to help with college applications, essays as well as general's writing and executive function. My son has difficulty focusing on writing, in particular and has challenges with executive function. Deirdre listened to my concerns, heard my son’s needs, his deep anxiety and she found ways to motivate him as well as teach him some tools to get ideas rolling . My son is exceptionally bright and STEM oriented; Deirdre understood how important it was that his authentic voice came through in his writing.
