I’ve been waiting a while before reviewing Awesome Materials to get a good feel of their flooring system. Mike and his team put down an ecodur layer and top coat in our garage about 7 months ago (9/20). The floor looks great and is performing really well. It’s so easy to clean and there are no issues with tire marks or the coatings flaking/releasing from the old concrete substrate. The floor coating covered some minor concrete cracks and really refreshed the worn concrete floor and completes the garage. Check out the before/after photos. Sorry about the different angles, but you get the idea. We chose to go without flakes and a white floor finish. This approach won’t give a flawless finish. There will be gassing pin holes, and other marks like from the raised shoes used by Mike and his team. Also some areas will have a bit more material then others. It’s the nature of the product, etc and the style we chose. From a distance and for most viewers it’s going to look excellent. But if you look closely there will be issues. If your uncomfortable with some flaws consider flakes or Mike can suggest a better approach. I wish I knew about the Dust! So much dust! The preparation of the slab generated lots of dust. Take everything out of the garage even things on the ceilings or walls. Put towels under doors to limit entry inside. Plan to vacuum sills, trims, beams, panels, etc after it’s all finished. We left things hanging on walls which all had to washed or wiped. Mike is honest and straightforward business owner. His work is great and he does what he say. He also works with you to put together a good plan. He has a good feel about the materials he uses and his plan and advice is right on.

Overall very pleased with the job. Decided to go with this non-epoxy coating because it’s better a filling in cracked and uneven surfaces. As a bonus, this stuff has just a tiny amount of ‘give’ or flex to it, so just a tinier bit easier walking on concrete all day.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
This is not a home depot garage paint solution. Although this is a unique, high performance and green option, costs are competitive with other epoxy coating installers.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We assess the condition of the concrete and provide samples of our color options. Our crew is generally in and out in 2 days and the customer can drive back on the floor within 2 days.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Certified applicator training from the manufacturer, Lifetime Coatings. Our firm's principal is a degreed architect and has years of experience in concrete waterproofing and restoration, traffic coatings and concrete moisture vapor mitigation.
