Power in Language Tutoring

Excited about working with middle and high school students and passionate about teaching, I have taught social studies, English, English-as-a-Second Language, and standardized test preparation (CBEST, ACT, SAT, AP). I teach students research-based strategies to enable them to comprehend and analyze informational text effectively. Teaching essay writing: argument (persuasive), expository, and literary analysis, is my specialty. Social studies subjects taught include geography and regular and AP history courses. Also, I have taught English at different levels: ESL, remedial, regular, and honors. My qualifications include a teaching credential in social studies and English with CLAD (i.e., a focus on teaching English language learners), a master's degree in history, and eleven years' teaching experience in public and parochial schools and tutoring centers. I truly enjoy tutoring and look forward to working with you/your student.
