FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My rates typically range between $30 and $200 per hour depending on the type of work, my level of involvement, time lines, and availability. Rates for fabrication of metalwork, jewelry or product design are negotiable and range from pro-bono to sharing in the possible success of your product, hourly rate, or lump sum.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
An over the phone, online, or in person interview so I can understand their needs and dreams is a good place to start. Then I can prepare a quote tailored to their project. I do a lot of different types of design work so my rates are variable depending on the type, complexity, and scope of the project.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo with a degree in Architecture. I studied Chemical Engineering at University of Colorado, Boulder for a few years, before that, and then went to a JC to take as many cross discipline classes as I could fit into my schedule. I continue to follow that up with hundreds and hundreds of hours learning about everything I can, and then applying that knowledge to make things. I have attended numerous training seminars in a wide variety of disciplines ranging from human behavior, acoustics, robotics, embedded system design, electronics, and of course architecture and design related fields. I still study music to keep my mind occupied when I am not busy making or in the process of planning to make something.
