Introduction: I provide a style of drawing that is not necessarily an exaggeration but rather a cartoon portrait that can capture their likeness and uses humorous approach to the subject without being too wacky--my work is all about capturing the best in a person--kids and pets are also not a problem!

Pete was one of the first vendors I booked for my wedding. I wanted to opt out of having a photo booth and give my guests something really special and creative. When I found Pete through Thumbtack and looked over his work, I was thrilled! He did an incredible job drawing our guests and had a line of people the whole night waiting to get a picture from him. He was great to talk to and everyone was so excited to get a caricature done. I'm so grateful to have this art from our wedding day. Such a wonderful way to end the night. Thank you so much for creating such special keepsakes for us and our guests!! I highly recommend hiring Pete for any event, you won't regret it!

Pete is such a gem! He really takes the time to listen to what you envision, and just like that your thoughts appear in such a wonderful artwork. I had a vey thought window and Pete made sure the artwork would arrive on time. I definitely recommend him. You won’t be dissaponted.

It was a pleasure working with Pete. He was easy to communicate with and always got back to us promptly. Although I didn't get to see or talk to him too much during the wedding, we got rave reviews from the guests on his work and professionalism. We only ordered two hours of his time, but he was more than willing to stay the extra time to get in a few more sketches (including ours). This to me was the characteristic that I believe sets Pete apart from any other Caricature artist that you're considering hiring. Wonderful to work with and goes the extra distance! Would highly recommend for any party! Hopefully another party of ours =)

I hired Pete as the caricature artist for my wedding and he was a pleasure to work with. Throughout the planning process, he was quick to respond to emails. The day of the wedding, he arrived half an hour early to set up. All the guests loved him. At the end of the event, he even offered to do a portrait of my husband and I since we were too busy socializing earlier in the day.

Pete did caricatures for my daughters Sweet 16 party and everyone loved his drawings! He was on time and polite. He's the best caricature artist I've ever seen. I highly recommend him and will use his services again!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I typically ask $150 and hour, for a minimum of two hours, but not always. Sometimes I break it down into lower increments of $25 an hour depending on the day of the week, if it's a really busy season or not, etc. Digital caricatures are also available, but the cost per hour is higher. Digital drawings are done on a tablet with painting software, then printed out for each guest on 4" x 6" photo paper.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I usually have an e-mail exchange with a new customer in which we determine the date, times, fee, venue and any other details of the event. I write up a contract stating all the details and submit it to the client for their signature; sometimes a deposit is required to secure the date, but not always. That's a pretty basic sequence, not very complicated.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been drawing and illustrating as a free-lance cartoonist since 1985. I was copying caricatures out of MAD magazine since i was a kid! Also, I trained at the California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland and the Art Academy in San Francisco. I studied drawing, graphic design, calligraphy, painting and photography.
