I hired Peter Vittas to handle the probate for my dad’s estate CA estate. I called a few lawyers on a Saturday and he responded right away. Others got back to me on Monday. From day one he set expectations, thoroughly explained the process along with timing. He was very professional, promptly responded to every one of my calls, texts and emails. I would definitely recommend Peter. I was the Trustee of one of my best friend's Trust, but there were issues with the retirement accounts not being recognized by a major investment firm in the Trust. Peter helped me go through the unduly arduous process of CA probate court and appealing to the investment firm to get the funds released for the beneficiaries. He not only kept me updated on the process, he went out of his way to call the courts and the staffers to make sure all the docs were in line for each step, so we didn't get bounced and have to repeat the process. He was personally vested in my case. Thanks!

I highly recommend Peter for probate cases. I unexpectedly became the administrator for my cousin's probate. Peter did a great job walking me through the steps and keeping track of the process, which is complex. He is extremely knowledgeable and if he didn't have an answer for a question, he'd reach out and find one. He referred me to colleagues to handle things like the sale of the property; everyone he recommended was great. He was patient and thoughtful, which helped a lot during such a challenging experience.There are so many details in the process and he helped me prioritize, stay organized, reminded me about upcoming deadlines, guided me in interactions with family and friends, and managed all the mandated court procedures, submissions, and approvals. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically bill at $300/hr. For estate planning, I typically charge a flat fee. For probate of a decedent's will or estate, the fee for an attorney is set by California law based on a percentage of the value of the estate (see Probate Code section 10810).
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Initial phone consultation and preliminary review of documents is FREE. Then I let the client know what I think needs to be done, how long that will take, and give an estimate of the cost if the client chooses to use my services.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated from Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana magna cum laude in the top 15% of my class in May 2010. I passed the California bar on my first attempt and was admitted to practice law in California in November 2010. I have been practicing here in California ever since, and a majority of my practice has focused on probate law. This includes trust and estate litigation, probate of Decedent's will or estate, trust administration, and estate planning.
