Introduction: Hello! My name is Samantha Blake and I am a voice teacher and professional singer here in Los Angeles, CA. I received my degree from Belmont University’s School of Music in Musical Theatre and Classical voice, and I have been performing in regional Broadway shows around the country for 6 years. All my students have a classical base, site reading 101, and I specialize in helping my ladies unleash their powerful ‘belt’, healthily. I build my students’ repertoire books for auditions to meet the current criteria required from collegiate audition tours, LA theatre, and Broadway. I currently work for the Walt Disney Company and am dedicated to staying plugged into the industry in order to help connect my students and help them reach their goals. My active participation in the industry ensures I am always up to date with need to know repertoire and styles so that my students are prepared for the real world. My lessons are conducted over Zoom to accommodate the ever changing industry schedules and to enable me to reach students no matter where they are located! I didn't originally want to do virtual lessons at all, but I ended up accepting them because Sami seemed like the perfect teacher for me. And I'm so happy I did! I explained to her what my goals were (I'm a total beginner doing this to grow) and she made me feel so safe and understood. She also did an amazing job of easing me into it through easy breathing and warm up exercises. I feel very safe with her. I wish I could afford to do this more than once per week! haha. I'm having so much fun with Sam. Eternally grateful for her and our lessons. Highly recommend!!

I really enjoyed my initial consultation with Sammy. She was very friendly and easy going. She didn't judge me for making mistakes and she waited for me to be ready. I usually feel like I'm being judged and disliked by people, but she was super chill from the get go. I felt safe in just a couple minutes of chatting. She's confident without being arrogant and it's very reassuring.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start everyone off with a classical base. I believe classical training not only creates the strongest singers, but also the healthiest. I build each students’ repertoire book based on their individual type, range, and goals. I also coach each song for both performance and audition cuts so that the student is versatile and prepared for the industry’s requirements.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BFA in Musical Theatre and Classical Voice. 6 years of professional singing experience. 3 years of voice coaching experience.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I began as a professional ballerina at the Atlanta Ballet and then decided to pursue theatre, so I went to Belmont University School of Music! I got my BFA in Musical Theatre and Classical Voice and I have been singing and dancing around the country ever since!
