Based in two Bay-Area locations (East and North Bay), we are proudly woman-owned and actively involved in a number of ongoing residential and commercial projects across the Bay Area. All client and project types are welcome as we have extensive experience in design, code compliance and construction of single family, multifamily, commercial, hospitality, healthcare and retail design.

Sarah is the absolute best! She helped us build out an empty shell into an optometry practice. She was extremely knowledgeable about all things architecture and code, very responsive, and exuded an air of reliability, which was key for us as first-time business owners. If I had another home project for renovation, I would totally work with Sarah again. My bathroom renovation was our first home renovation ever and being an obsessive researcher, I contacted every "highly qualified" architect in the SF area who had reasonable fees and time to take me in as a client. (It's crazy busy in Bay Area!) I picked Sarah because she: 1) Was easy to talk to, 2) was very Informative, 3) was transparent, 4) could understand my style and goals, and 5) Had reasonable pricing. She has a very strong background in Commercial design and has been slowly taking on personal residential projects. As someone who has never done any renovations before, I felt very comfortable working with her and communicating with her especially in the process of choosing designs, which I had no clue about.
The construction company I picked is still in progress with my bathroom but as soon as it is ready, I will have it posted here. Thank you Sarah for a great experience thus far!

Sarah walked me through every step of designing a new unit above my garage. She listened to my exact priorities and then offered four variations on the floorplan, each with a uniquely attractive feature. She was incredibly quick to make revisions based on my developing ideas. She got me to consider elements of the interior and exterior I hadn't thought to consider, and sent me many images of potential features and materials. Sarah made this a great process.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Project fees are typically managed on an estimated hourly rate. Depending on the scope and scale of a project, fees can alternatively be determined as a percentage of construction costs. We provide a detailed breakdown of all fee estimates as part of our contract and proposal documents.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will first meet or talk with our potential Client to discuss the intentions for the project. Following an initial meeting/ call, we will tailor a work plan and fee estimate to suit the specific project goals. No job is too small or too big for us!
Once a contract is signed, we will proceed with the agreed-to workflow, schedule and budgeted amount of hours. Since every project is different our process varies to accommodate the specific needs of the Client.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
see arch. is managed by Sarah Ebner who is an award winning architect with a Master's degree from McGill University and licenses to practice architecture in both Canada and the United States. Sarah is NCARB certified and collaborates frequently with practicing Bay Area architects and university educators. Other designers within the office were trained at Parsons New School and UC Berkeley architecture programs. We offer a diversity of backgrounds and skillsets which complement the variety of work the studio is credited with.
